Lamar University Men’s Golf Jessie Mudd joined the Lamar University community when he was named head men’s golf coach on July 27, 2015. Mudd came to LU after four seasons as assistant coach at the University of Kentucky, where he helped build a program that finished 18th nationally in 2014. The Wildcats sent two individual golfers to the NCAA Championships in 2015. During Mudd’s time at Kentucky, the Wildcats won three tournaments and finished in the top three a total of 10 times. A native of Louisville, Ky., Mudd was one of the nation’s top junior golfers, earning the title of Kentucky Mr. Golf as a junior and senior, while helping his high school team, St. Xavier, win three state championships. He was ranked as the nation’s top junior golfer by Golfweek Magazine heading into his senior year. A two-time AJGA Polo All-America in high school, Mudd attended the University of Florida on a golf scholarship.

2016 Information Guide

During his time with the Gators, Mudd was part of a team that was ranked in the top 10 in three of his four seasons. Mudd posted the fourth-best scoring average by a freshman in school history, carding 15 rounds of par or better placing in the top 10 on three occasions. He was the SEC Co-Freshman of the Year and received PING All-America honors in 2004. Mudd graduated from the University of Florida in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in anthropology. 15
