Flying is convenient with two award-winning airports nearby. The Palm Beach International Airport in West Palm Beach is less than 20 miles north, while the Fort Lauderdale/ Hollywood International Airport is a quick 33-mile drive south. Traveling around Delray Beach is also made simple by numerous public transportation services. The South Florida Regional Transit Authority’s Tri-Rail offers commuter rail service throughout Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties. Palm Tran bus service serves residents and visitors with a fixed-route public bus service and specialized door-to-door service for eligible disabled persons. If you prefer driving to these alternatives, you’ll be happy to learn our comprehensive interstate highway system and surrounding roads are easy to navigate. Florida’s Turnpike runs north from Miami through Orlando and Wildwood and connects with Interstate 75, while Interstate 95 connects Miami to Jacksonville before continuing north through Maine. Residents and visitors can traverse Delray Beach in style aboard the city’s free transportation option, FreeBee. The South Florida-based electric transportation company provides the service with low-speed, battery-powered electric vehicles. Guests can request a ride through the Freebee app anywhere in the downtown CRA service area, which includes most locations east of I95 to A1A, and Gulfstream Boulevard to Southwest 10th Street. Simply download the FreeBee app and set your pickup location at one of 12 points of interest in downtown Delray Beach. Its service hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday, and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.
