BLOOM BEAUTY The idea to write a book showcasing women’s inner beauty has been knocking on the door of my consciousness for quite some time. Well, as the old cliché goes, Nothing happens before its time . 2020 pressed pause on our ever-busy lifestyles and opened up our consciousness to the fact that we are human doings instead of beings ... that we are tired, drained and stretched to the max! As women, many of us saw the need to re-prioritize our intentions and put self-care and self-love back at the top of our list. So, what better time to seize the opportunity to promote and revive the essence of BALANCED BEAUTY — in ALL of US — through the wisdom of women who are confident, dynamic and UNapologetic? As a grandmother myself, I KNOW that getting to that point, as a woman, often requires a lot of hard lessons learned over many years, and I wondered,

And this is how the BLOOM BEAUTY E-BOOK, featuring women from 21 to 101 years old, blossomed!

BLOOM BEAUTY | PAGE 5

Is there a simple guidebook we can create together about timeless beauty that transcends generations and beautifies the souls of others?

The purpose of the Passion Kairos, BLOOM BEAUTY PROJECT is three-fold:

To honor and showcase women who exude beauty and exercise self-care and self-love on a daily basis To create a holistic beauty guide that educates and affirms EACH generation of women by sharing INHERITED beauty secrets that have stood the test of time To design a FREE, but PRICELESS gift for ourselves and the other women in our lives for the HOLIDAY season

As the flower blooms with confidence, it focuses all its energy on itself, never comparing itself to another, never competing with another, never worrying about who will like it or if it’s enough. Whether the observer is there or not, appreciates it or not, the flower blossoms because it’s the only thing it knows to do! As women, we are created with that same feminine sovereignty. We are being called to awaken and rise to our innate gifts of feminine wisdom. When we come together to support each other’s intentions, we bloom into the most beautiful bouquet of sisterhood. And that’s where our power lies!

Bloom Beauty is about just that ... a commemorative reminder that we can support each other, learn from each other, honor each other and celebrate each other! Enjoy reading!

SARENA SCOTT GENERATION Z (8-25). FLORIDA VIBRANT • EMPATHETIC • DREAMER

FAVORITE... GUILTY PLEASURE Nutella hazelnut chocolate. I’m most guilty of eating an entire tub in one sitting!

PHYSICAL TRAIT My smile. Just sharing a smile brightens up someone’s day and I love doing that!

BEAUTY MANTRA I am Love. So love is reflected to me.

DESIGNING THE IDEAL PERSONAL SANCTUARY The ideal personal sanctuary should always be an atmosphere that brings peace on the most stressful of days. I’ve designed my personal sanctuary with plants and books. Kind of like a vacation for me. When my days are stressful, I feel the need to escape and what better way to escape reality for a moment by reading a great book.

BEST WELLNESS ROUTINE Face masks!!! For me, it’s very therapeutic because, with skincare, I can instantly see the results from taking care of my skin as opposed to my struggles with seeing results from weight loss. Also, I just love the idea of creating my own D.I.Y home spa. I light some candles, put on a face mask, and turn up my favorite tunes and I never feel more relaxed.

TAPPING INTO MY SISTERHOOD I tap into my supportive sisterhood when I start to become doubtful of myself and my abilities. I have amazing friends and family who are always a call or text away when I am in need of some encouragement to push myself.

DEFINING SELF-LOVE Self-love, for me, means becoming one with both your mental and physical well being. Taking care of not only your body as God’s temple but also your mind. It means being free to say no to things that don’t bring about light. It means understanding that healing is a process, and it takes time. To me, self-love means truly listening to your body and appreciating the beautiful temple God gave you.

RE-CENTERING MYSELF I feel most at ease when I’m outside, to take off my shoes and feel the grass beneath my feet. To count how many cars pass by or how many trees are in front of me. To listen to the birds talk amongst each other. It’s essential to try and recognize what’s around you by tapping into your senses; that brings me back to the present moment. And in a way, it strengthens me. I am here; my heart is beating. I am alive, and I can get through this.

ZINDZI JANAAN MILLENNIAL (26-40). SOUTH CAROLINA DYNAMIC • DIVINE • VISIONARY

FAVORITE... GUILTY PLEASURE I openly enjoy and indulge in Talenti's Caribbean Coconut Gelato (I eat the entire container in one sitting!)

COMPLIMENT Being fully seen, wholly heard and unconditionally accepted in all my versions and shades of being is the very best compliment I can imagine.

BEAUTY MANTRA I am what I've been waiting for!

DESIGNING THE IDEAL PERSONAL SANCTUARY Nature is the best designer ever; follow Her lead or simply go and surrender yourself to Her majesty, and the sanctuary is yours!

BEST WELLNESS ROUTINE I adore relaxing doing absolutely nothing in particular and seeing where the moments take me -- maybe it finds me petting my dog, Korra, and laying across my bed or hiking a mountain, foraging for herbs. I live for those meandering moments to simply BE with all that is as it is for the sake of presence rather than productivity.

passionkairos.com

TAPPING INTO MY SISTERHOOD I tap into my supportive sisterhood EVERY DAY! I live by Pearl Cleage's wise words: A woman without her sisters is like a bird without wings.

DEFINING SELF-LOVE Self-love is the conscious choice to be fully with myself: as I am, where I am, with an open heart and no commentary.

RE-CENTERING MYSELF Deep breathing when the situation cannot be altered, and communing with Nature alone, as soon and as long as possible, sans humans.

A TIMELESS BEAUTY SECRET Take care of soul sista #1 FIRST! Today, it is often

phrased as Fill your own cup or You can't pour from an empty cup . And I've found it to be absolutely

essential to living in my lush and truth.

STACIA YEARWOOD MILLENNIAL (26-40). TRINIDAD CURIOUS • COMPASSIONATE • CREATIVE

FAVORITE... GUILTY PLEASURE A not-yet-named decadent concoction of plain cream cheese, sweetened condensed milk and fruit cocktail.

COMPLIMENT That my playful nature irresistibly draws the little child out of everyone I meet.

DESIGNING THE IDEAL PERSONAL SANCTUARY Try to include all five elements of nature — Earth, Water, Fire (Light), Air, and Space — if you can. Orient the space so it faces a window; this allows the space to feel more expansive. Be as minimalist as possible with the items you add to the space so that there can be a free flow of air and energy. As an added touch, try to include background music or sound that is relaxing to you as well as inspirational and colorful art on the walls. Lastly, add some lush green plants with air-purifying qualities.

BEAUTY MANTRA

A TIMELESS BEAUTY SECRET

Their Flaws, Your Fullness!

My grandmother said, after a shower, we should stand in the sun for 10 minutes. If it works? I can’t be sure, but I’ve always attributed that practice to my skin’s glow, and the fact that I rarely fall ill.

passionkairos.com

TAPPING INTO MY SISTERHOOD

RE-CENTERING MYSELF I first check in with myself to ask, Is it the problem that’s causing the chaos or your reaction to it?

More often, it’s my reaction, and, once I accept that, I take back my power. The next move would be to determine the steps to either improve or remove myself from the situation. And, if neither of those is an option, I shift my attitude with a new line of questioning: What is this situation here to teach

I tap into my sisterhood Every. Single. Day. I am blessed with a tight network of women who make self-evolution a daily practice. We recognize that we don’t get to a crisis without having received subtle hints from our bodies and minds beforehand. Our promise to each other is to consistently “fill our cups” and maintain a safe space for vulnerable and sensitive shares as well as our celebrations and wins.

BEST WELLNESS ROUTINE

me? I aim to never let circumstances derail my

commitment to myself.

DEFINING SELF-LOVE Self-love is keeping my agreements with myself even if it means risking ridicule, misunderstanding or radical changes in my relationships. I’m more mindful of my peace and energy and ensure that, as much as I can, I am giving from my overflow and not the critical depths of my well. I also focus more on progress than perfection and the lesson rather than the loss. In the words of a dear friend, I am

Free form dancing! Since my early teens, I’d get myself into any empty room, pop a playlist on, and move with no planned steps, no memorization, no goals, or sequence until I was sweaty and exhausted. Now, I pair my “wacky dancing” with untimed long-distance running. I suppose what I enjoy is employing body movement to get my physical, mental and emotional being into alignment.

devoted to my expansion.

TOSHA GROVES MILLENNIAL (26-40). NEW YORK MOTHERLY • CREATIVE • PEACEFUL

FAVORITE... GUILTY PLEASURE A decadent scone or anything pumpkin spice. I feel like I’m entitled to sample any and all of the pumpkin spice desserts that I come across at least once!

COMPLIMENT A simple one: That someone knew that I had a good heart just by looking at me.

BEAUTY MANTRA Everything is always working out for me! - Abraham-Hicks

DESIGNING THE IDEAL PERSONAL SANCTUARY Ahhh, designing one’s own personal sanctuary, in my opinion, begins with observing yourself first. What scents draw you in closer? What colors are you drawn to? What fabrics make you the happiest or bring you the most comfort? What style do you find yourself gravitating to most? When do you feel the most at peace? In which country/city /environment do you feel the most at home? Think

also about which words mean the most to you. The subconscious mind picks up on words even when our eyes and mind aren’t consciously processing them. Don’t worry about perfection; be fluid, your idea of your personal sanctuary may be fluid and subject to change. No worries.

passionkairos.com

TAPPING INTO MY SISTERHOOD I tap into my supportive sisterhood when I seek further clarity than what I can offer myself. When I need further love and a safe no-judgment zone. I’m grateful to have people around me who understand what makes me tick and the person that I am without having to explain myself or defend myself.

DEFINING SELF-LOVE Self-love, in my opinion, is providing the foundational and supplementary love that you require. Being gentle with you and setting boundaries as needed. Self-love says let me indulge and love on myself so that I can give freely to the world without feeling slighted. Self-love is being so solid, so self-aware that you know who you are and what you are willing to give. Not allowing yourself to bend and twist to anyone else’s will, to dance to your own drum even when the drum is silent. Selflove reminds one to be just as kind to one’s self ( as supportive, as generous, as forgiving ) as you are

with someone who resides outside of your body.

BEST WELLNESS ROUTINE My favorite wellness routine is sitting in my house with a decadent cup of tea for one … uninterrupted. If I have had a rough day, I will come home, take a long shower, and smoke out my home first with a combination of frankincense, myrrh and lavender. I then get into my favorite nightgown and call it a night … even if the sun is still out. I also like to keep my immune system up and running with an array of herbal teas so that if I do, in fact, catch a bug it doesn’t stay too long or do too much damage.

JEN YANG GENERATION X (41-55). TAIWAN PASSIONATE • OUT-OF-THE-BOX • CATALYST

FAVORITE... GUILTY PLEASURE Taking a long salt bath (with lavender oil), candles lit up and listening to my favorite music. Honey water and a piece of dark chocolate after the salt bath.

PHYSICAL TRAIT My hooked nose. As I've gotten older, I learned to appreciate its unique shape as something inherited from my father.

BEAUTY MANTRA Be true to who you are, connect within to radiate out!

DESIGNING THE IDEAL PERSONAL SANCTUARY I treat every morning as a celebration of rebirth. I say Happy Birthday, Jen! It’s a brand new day!, sending gratitude to all that I am being provided to welcome the day in calmness and peace. After all, if we are not being “supported,” we wouldn’t be alive this moment. Fun breaks (listening to music, stretches, dance) during the day helps me get out of my overthinking headspace and really tap into the present moment by being in my body, so I can continue to focus on what I need to create out of inspiration, instead of “have-to’s.”

A TIMELESS BEAUTY SECRET Make sure you keep your body warm at all times ,

my mother always says. So drinking warm water and no cold drinks is a simple principle that I follow.

passionkairos.com

TAPPING INTO MY SISTERHOOD

RE-CENTERING MYSELF Slow down, stop anything that I'm doing in the moment if possible. Take five deep breaths to relax my nervous system, so I preserve my energy instead of jumping into reactionary mode. Then, respond to the situation accordingly whenever I feel more relaxed or calm in my body.

DEFINING SELF-LOVE

I lean into sisterhood for support when I want to be witnessed in certain situations or whenever I feel emotionally vulnerable. It’s always beautiful to have someone that I trust to hold space for me to process my internal experience. Having a deep, nourishing soulful conversation with a sister is such a priceless gift!!

BEST WELLNESS ROUTINE To feel grounded, peaceful and grateful in my heart, a simple powerful prayer ( Universe, use me. I am a loyal vessel to receive all the upcoming

The understanding of Self-Love has gotten deeper throughout my journey, especially in recent years. What self-love means to me at a practical level is: Expressing my truth with integrity and honesty even if it may not always feel comfortable. Receiving all experiences as soul lessons while letting different parts of me to be fully embraced without selfjudgment (especially when riding the emotional waves). Choosing to pour compassion to every challenging situation and allowing everyone involved to be themselves without the need to fix anything (including myself).

experiences/learnings as you’re gifting the wisdom I need today ) is what I do first thing in

the morning. It helps me trust the creative divine flow throughout the day. Doing daily meditation and enjoying movement (energetic flow through easy yoga stretches or free dance) are essential elements for me to balance the Yin-Yang.

LESLIE GARCIA GENERATION X (41-55). NEW YORK LOYAL • FORWARD THINKER • PROTECTOR

FAVORITE... GUILTY PLEASURE Having the last word when someone wants to challenge me and not teach me.

COMPLIMENT Someone named their child after me as a way of expressing their gratitude for receiving my support and guidance.

BEAUTY MANTRA To be aware is to be alive.

DEFINING SELF-LOVE Acceptance that I move in life with love, curiosity, and a strong desire to always uplift my surroundings. Self-love is to be my own spokesperson with no fear. Saying no when needing to say yes to my own well-being.

BEST WELLNESS ROUTINE Listening to music, sitting in silence, and having the visualization of positive transformation for loved ones and myself.

passionkairos.com

TAPPING INTO MY SISTERHOOD I tap into my supportive sisterhood when I have to pour into them or they have to pour into me in order to recharge our spirits. It is an ongoing process. The support is always on-call.

RE-CENTERING MYSELF Isolation to eliminate the noise and tune-in to my intuition. Prayer for giving me the confidence to trust my journey and evaluating where else I should place boundaries to allow personal growth.

passionkairos.com

ANN-MARIE EMMANUEL BOOMER (56-74). FLORIDA FEARLESS • DETERMINED • INSPIRING

FAVORITE... GUILTY PLEASURE I can never have enough shoes or earrings. I can always make room for another pair!

COMPLIMENT My mother telling me, I always knew you were born to shine .

Since then, I have been so comfortable letting my light shine to the world.

BEAUTY MANTRA If my light is shining too bright, put your sunglasses on! - Lisa Nichols

DEFINING SELF-LOVE As an ambassador for the Self-Love movement, I coach others about the importance of directing love to themselves. In this work, I am continually discovering deeper layers of self-sabotaging behaviors within myself. So, for me, Self Love is loving myself intelligently by always being willing to investigate what negative thoughts or behaviors contribute to not honoring myself, reflecting on the root causes of those behaviors, establishing tools and practices to create a shift in the moment that I catch myself in negativity, and then being inspired to commit to new actions that will produce a different result in my behavior. This is a lifetime work in progress but it’s so worth it because I realize that to achieve my highest good, Everything Begins and Ends with Self-Love ... and that’s my

Mantra!

passionkairos.com

BEST WELLNESS ROUTINE My routine for complete wellness is 3 Power Pauses per year where I spend a week in the silence nourishing my mind, body and spirit with Universal Truths. I emerge in a state of total appreciation and gratitude for where I am, who I am, what I have and what is in my life!

RE-CENTERING MYSELF FEAR is the first emotion that emerges for most of us during stressful situations. So I go straight to the source with this question, What is my fear? What is the worst thing that can happen? What do I need to feel safe here? Those questions usually

bring me back to the TRUTH. So I open my Emotional Survival Kit and pull out a routine that best suits the situation. The most popular routine is to 1. Be with my emotions for a while. Allow myself to feel whatever I’m feeling 2. Figure out what this fear is trying to teach me about myself. 3. Remind myself that life’s circumstances come and go but Life Always Works Out For Me.

A TIMELESS BEAUTY SECRET I learned from my mother many tips to maintain healthy glowing skin. I still practice drinking lots of young coconut water. It’s a panacea for healthy glowing skin.

DAILY ROUTINE Spiritual : As I open my eyes

into consciousness each day, I align myself to vibrate according to these truths: I am the light of my soul. I am abundantly beautiful, bountiful, grateful and blessed. I am enough. I meditate as often as I need to center myself. Physical : A long walk on the beach is vital to my awareness, gratitude and connection to all things. My nutritional routine is highly focused now on growing my own foods and preparing my own healthy beverages. Dancing keeps me feeling youthful! I’m going to dance my way to the end of my journey. Emotional: I keep a daily journal. It helps me manage my emotions and will one day serve as content for my Memoir.

CHERYL MCKENZIE-COOK BOOMER (56-74). TRINIDAD PASSIONATE • COURAGEOUS • TEACHER

FAVORITE... GUILTY PLEASURE

DESIGNING THE IDEAL PERSONAL SANCTUARY

Cheesecake made by Lorraine.

COMPLIMENT You made a real difference in my life.

BEAUTY MANTRA

I have two versions of this. One is physical. For this, I prefer a quiet place by the sea, where there is strong positive energy. I particularly like the sound of waves crashing. The other version is in my head. This comes in very handy when I can’t go to a physical sanctuary. What I do is go within, center myself, perhaps light some incense, and visualise/remember a place that always brings peace to my spirit. Sometimes music helps.

Be the YOUEST You that you can be! - Dr. Seuss

DEFINING SELF-LOVE Knowing who you really are – your essence, not the externals; loving and focusing on that.

passionkairos.com

TAPPING INTO MY SISTERHOOD I tap into my sisterhood for support in challenging times. For fun and adventures. For exchanging deep conversations.

RE-CENTERING MYSELF BEST WELLNESS ROUTINE For the Mind : uplifting movies/stories/personal

development training, living in gratitude and redirecting my mind whenever it goes to thoughts of lack to what I DO have. For the Body : a healthy diet, daily exercise, Tai Chi, sleep, dancing, and intentional stress management. For the Spirit : meditation; raising my energy vibration through music; Brain Wave Entrainment; focusing on my connection with the limitless abundance and creative power of the Universe; laughter. For

Living in the present moment. Staying right there – not in the future. Reminding myself that you have survived all that life has thrown at you so you can survive this. Breathing – remind myself that once you are breathing, you’re alive. Separate what you can control from what you cannot control. Do something about the bits you can control. Let go the rest.

Connection : keeping close to those in my support

system, all over the world; having fun with them.

EVELYN MCKENLY GREATEST GENERATION (96-110). DC PETITE • JOYFUL • FUNNY

FAVORITE... GUILTY PLEASURE I eat three scoops of butter pecan ice cream every night!

DESIGNING THE IDEAL PERSONAL SANCTUARY

COMPLIMENT

I'm a shoe-a-holic! Shoes and pocketbooks! Having those in my space helps me feel relaxed.

You don't look your age!

BEAUTY MANTRA No matter where you’re going or what you’re doing, always look your best.

BEST WELLNESS ROUTINE Dancing! I was a part of a senior dancing group called the “Funtastics.” We danced for nursing homes, military bases and other community events. We had costumes and everything, very professional! My favorite performance was called, “New York, New York.”

passionkairos.com

TAPPING INTO MY SISTERHOOD That is an everyday thing! My oldest and best girlfriend and I went to school with each other in the 5th grade. When I first met her, she was just smiling, like she just accepted me, and we’ve been friends ever since! She turned 100 in April, and we still keep in touch. We talk about once a week.

DEFINING SELF-LOVE I haven’t thought about it much, but I think selflove causes you to look at your inner self to examine how you live or how you want to live in the future.

RE-CENTERING MYSELF I take a deep breath and say a prayer.

A TIMELESS BEAUTY SECRET My mother was a beautician and she owned two shops. We worked together, and I eventually ran the second shop. From working with my mother, I learned the importance of keeping my hair and nails done. I think it keeps me looking as young as I do because it's just a part of who I am!
