Join Park Superintendent Mark Woods, FRIENDS Board President Ken Randolf, Coach Frank Beamer and FRIENDS for a fun way to support and help shape the future of our treasured Parkway. There are many worthwhile golf events each year but very few that are exclusively limited to “corporate sponsorship teams only.” Previous events were sold out to corporate sponsors and there is a limited number of new teams available. Take advantage of this great opportunity to network with like-minded corporate leaders.

Premium gift from FootJoy! BALLYHACK The course at Ballyhack is nothing short of spectacular. The 190acre Lester George-designed 18-hole championship course is a classic Scottish highland-type design incorporating the dramatic topography of the property. Featuring 50 to 70 foot elevation changes, fairways as wide as 150 yards, and old-style, gougedout, roughed-out bunkers, the course will set new benchmarks in modern golf course design. “The expanse of the Ballyhack site makes players feel as if they were in a secluded sanctuary, remarkable for its proximity to Roanoke,” wrote Links Premier Clubs magazine. “[Ballyhack is] a world-class destination golf club on a rolling site along the Blue Ridge Parkway.” FRIENDS OF THE BLUE RIDGE PARKWAY The mission of FRIENDS of the Blue Ridge Parkway is to help preserve, promote and enhance the outstanding natural beauty, ecological vitality and cultural distinctiveness of the Blue Ridge Parkway and its corridor, including surrounding scenic landscape, thereby preserving this national treasure for future generations. The cornerstone work of FRIENDS is to provide volunteer and financial support to the Parkway in a way that cultivates stewardship among neighboring communities, organizations, businesses and individuals of all ages. Work is accomplished annually on overlook, trail, and viewshed maintenance, volunteer programs and a variety of special projects that meet park needs in maintenance, resource management, education, and interpretation.

The huge support and involvement from our community and business leaders continues to make this a very successful event. The Blue Ridge Parkway is a tremendous asset for Virginia and all of the communities along the Parkway. Sponsorships range from just $200 up to $10,000 with a wide variety of opportunities to promote your organization’s support of the Blue Ridge Parkway. You can take pride in being part of a group that serves to protect such an important landmark that brings in over 12 million visitors annually. In addition to the abundance of natural resources along the Parkway, the park has a significant economic impact on the regions in which it lies. As federal funding continues to decline for our national parks, private and corporate funding has become critical in ensuring the future of the Parkway. Your participation in the FRIENDS Golf Classic is incredibly valuable to the work accomplished each year!

FRIENDS’ commitment to our stewardship of the Parkway drives our work today and our focus on the future. Involving young people, from elementary school to college age, as volunteers gives them a first hand look at the impact of their work and helps to develop a life long love of the outdoors. To further this end, FRIENDS works with the National Park Service (NPS) to identify projects and provide training and supervision. FRIENDS also funds environmental education for youth through our Youth Volunteers-in-Parks program, supports Student Conservation Association (SCA) work on the Parkway as well as an Alternative Spring Break program that brings in groups of university students for spring and fall projects on the Parkway.
