We consider the differences between individual countries in more depth. We start by consider the outbound and inbound tourism figures for a range of countries. We discussion on the similarities and differences between individual countries in relation to their tourism figures.

Table 9.1 on the basis of data :a number of points can be made There will be a continued growth of outbound tourism from Europe. There will be a significant growth of outbound tourism from the East Asia / Pacific region. Other region the Middle East, Africa and South Asia will experience growth in outbound tourism.

Table 9.2 show inbound tourism on the basis of this table a number of points can be made. There will continue to be a growth of inbound tourism into Europe and the Americas. The East Asia/Pacific region of the world will experience the largest growth inbound tourism approximately 25% in 2020 The Middle East and South Asia will experience a steady growth in tourism over the next decade.

Tourism Statistic :USA The market of inbound tourism is predicted to decline slowly over the next ten years.  The largest share of visitors to the USA come from Europe but predicted to decline.  The prediction inbound tourism to the USA show steady decline from all major markets. (The USA has the greatest potential for growth) 

1. The outbound travel market has growth at a quicker rate than the inbound market. 2. Inbound tourism has declined slightly over the past five years. 3. Arrivals from Europe continue to grow but arrivals from the USA have continue to decline over the past five years. ( the worries of travel because of the terrorist threat/ Iraq situation)

Outbound tourism showed a slight overall increase during the period 1999-2003 The market for outgoing tourism from Spain is still young market and has potential for growth Spain has develop its tourism offering over the last decades with cultural tourism , sport tourism and conference business.

There are many different factors that account for different scales of domestic , inbound and outbound tourism. Even where scale of the market is relatively similar ,the markets themselves can be very different.


Australia 

Australia as a developed economy people have relatively high amounts of leisure time . Inbound market has been traditionally related Europe and leisure tourists from Asia. Outbound the young people and their parents often see a journey to Asia ,Europe or North America almost as completing their education and opening their eyes to wider world.

The Dominican Republic is a poor developing country with low levels of domestic and outbound tourism. The Europeans looking for inexpensive , allinclusive, sun ,sand and sea holidays in an exotic location Gambles from Caribbean countries and South America who come to play casinos. The local language of Spanish is the lingua franca of the visitors (no language problem)

The low level of outbound demand result of the high cost of living in Japan and long hours worked. Japan has medium levels of domestic tourism but receives only a low level of inbound tourism it may be due to high cost of living ,language difficulties or its isolation from traditional tourist trip generating countries.

France is the world’s top tourist destination because of: Its generally attractive climate. Its diversity of attraction from the culture and romance of Paris to the chic of the Revirera ,village of Brittany to vineyards Burgundy. Government investment in the tourism product such as new resorts of the Languedoc-Rousillon coast. Its accomodation estabilsments and restaurant offer good value.
