WHAT: Incredibly burly yet sleek and racy alloy frame with Performance Geometry for high-speed riding with fully-integrated downtube battery, internal routing, thru-axle dropout and full fender/ rack mounts.
WHAT: Turbo Direct Drive rear hub motor.
WHAT: Integrated battery and internal cable routing.
WHY: Strengthens and stiffens the frame in the critical areas to handle the added weight of a battery and motor, and the rigors of riding at up to 45 kph, while still steering and braking nimbly and safely. HOW: Custom tube shapes, such as the super-oversized downtube and fork are stiff enough to handle the large forces placed on the front end during steering and braking, while shaped seat and chainstays and a 12mm through-axle beef up stiffness and strength around the motor and rear brake.
CUSTOM LI-ION BATTERY WHAT: Custom Turbo Li-Ion battery. WHY: To provide maximum power for quicker acceleration and higher torque. HOW: Our engineers found the finest quality Li Ion cells with the best “C-rates”—this means they allow for maximum power to be pulled out to the motor. They optimized the battery management system specifically to our motor, rather than relying on a generic system like other brands. Finally, the cells have been carefully placed to facilitate the quickest cooling.
WHY: To maximize efficiency in power transfer from motor to forward motion, while minimizing wear on drivetrain and keeping the noise level low. HOW: By putting the motor directly inside the rear hub we assure that all the power generated goes directly into forward motion—nothing is lost or wasted in the process. It also makes the motor very quiet, registering between 18-25 dB, which is comparable to the tick of a watch or whispering.
JOYSTICK INTERFACE SYSTEM WHAT: One-handed operating control unit for all bike functions. WHY: While resting your hand in the regular grip position, you're able to operate your motor support level, read and change your cyclocomputer information, control regenerative braking, and shift gears. HOW: By combining smart simplicity, the Joystick, the sensor for regenerative braking, and the shift lever into one clean, compact, and fully integrated interface unit.
WHY: The highest level of integration makes the Turbo look as fast as it moves. HOW: The battery and downtube shape seamlessly meld together to create sleek, and clean lines. All shift and brake cables enter the frame at the top of the downtube and exit at the bottom to keep them out of sight and out of the way. No matter what direction you look at the Turbo from, it resonates pure speed.
INTERCHANGEABLE SPEED SETTINGS WHAT: 25 km/h or 45 km/h maximum speed options on Turbo X and Turbo models. WHY: To allow you to control your speed depending on how and where you want to ride. HOW: The motor speed can be set at 25 km/h or 45 km/h by using the diagnosis tool, essentially giving you two bikes in one.
