HISTORY continued in the early 1970’s, the 4.3 mile Paradise Memorial Trail was established, and renamed the “Yellowstone Kelly Heritage Trail” in 2017. The ruts of the Overland Stage route through Paradise were paved long ago, but visitors will continue to visit this unique locale, finding delight in its beauty and a warm welcome in its people. On November 8, 2018, Paradise, Magalia and its neighbors were devastated by the most destructive wildfire in California history. As we evolve and rebuild, we invite you to explore our remarkable community of indomitable pioneers.

hether Ridge-born, newly replanted, or back to rebuild, the people of Paradise are unwaveringly resilient. We love our town, and we have pioneered a new normal. Despite all odds, we persevere for family, for friends, and for a community we call home.
This year, like many, we’ve experienced challenges. Months of uncertainty from a global pandemic are now amplified with devastating fires in nearby towns. These events are just plain tough to handle after everything else. And yet, we have weathered bigger storms—and come out stronger for them. This years’ hurdles will be no different. We will remain strong and help our neighbors, as they helped us. The Camp Fire clearly demonstrated how tight-knit a community we truly are; we will come through this current year closer than ever. As always, the main priority of the Town Council is the safety and wellbeing of Paradise, and we’ll continue to navigate the pandemic and fire safety with our residents as the top priority.
As we move forward in the recovery process,
the Town Council continues to focus on trees, weeds, and the RV ordinance. Paradise residents with dead and dying trees on their property have access to helpful resources and information. The Town of Paradise is also conducting ongoing research to better understand the barriers property owners are currently experiencing in the rebuild process.
Looking back on 2020, we truly have many things to celebrate. Milestones include the rebuilding of commercial buildings, significant grants to rebuild our schools, and the siren warning system. In addition, over 1200 building permit applications have been received and approved! We are closing in on 400 homes completed and the pace continues to increase. The future will no doubt continue to surprise us, and we know there will be more unknowns to face. And yet, with each new house built, each new business opened, we have hope. We will continue to rebuild as a community. Together, we will come home.
Greg Bolin, Mayor, Town of Paradise
