Dear Panther Family: Welcome to the 8th annual “Rally in the Valley: A Dinner Auction and Purple Tie Affair,� hosted by the Panther Scholarship Club and UNI Athletics. I am extremely excited to have this opportunity to serve as your Director of Athletics and attend my first Rally in the Valley. My family and I have received an incredibly warm welcome from so many members of the Panther family. We are proud to be Panthers, and grateful for the kindness and generosity of so many that are helping to make this new journey possible. Tonight we celebrate the past and present of Panther athletics while also looking forward to our future. There have been thousands of Panther student-athletes who have proudly worn the purple and gold, and laid the foundation for our program. We honor them for their hard work and dedication. These men and women will always be a part of the Panther family, and we will forever be grateful for their contributions. We also celebrate our current Panther student-athletes who strive for and achieve excellence in the classroom and in their various fields of competition. Each of the past 12 semesters, the GPA of our student-athletes has exceeded the GPA of our student body. Competitively, Panther athletics continues to win conference championships, participate in post season competition and represent UNI in a first-class manner. The 2015-16 academic year has been another successful one thanks to the sacrifices that they make each and every day. However, tonight is also about securing the future for the generations of student-athletes that will follow in their footsteps. Those opportunities are made possible because of your generous support. The Panther Scholarship Club is critical to funding the needs of our student-athletes, and we value each and every contribution. Rally in the Valley has become the centerpiece of our annual drive to continue giving our coaches and student-athletes the resources necessary to succeed. As we move forward, your contributions will become increasingly vital to our progress. It is easy to see in my initial assessment of our program that securing additional financial resources has to be our number one priority. We will all need to pull together to secure the future of UNI athletics in an increasingly competitive environment. Finally, we are pleased to welcome back Panther great David Johnson. David is a shining example of Panther student-athletes achieving excellence. Please join me in saluting David, our studentathletes and all Panther supporters. General Rules for Live, Super Silent & Silent Auctions
• Each bidder is assigned a bid number and is responsible for all bids made by this number. • All bid sales are final. No exchange or refund on items except when specified. • Payment made for items may be made following the sale of that item by cash, check, Master Card, Visa, American Express or Discover. Payment Saturday, April 30, 2016 is mandatory unless prior arrangements have been made. • Group purchases are invited. Please coordinate this with the “bank,” providing the cashier with names, amounts and form of payment. • Auction items must be removed night of the event by exhibiting the paid receipt.
Silent Auction (5:00 - 6:55 p.m.)
• The silent auction will begin at 5:00 p.m. on the concourse level of the McLeod Center. 100, 200, & 300 close at 6:50 p.m. and 400, 500, 600 & Raffle auction close at 6:55 p.m. • The starting bid is printed on the top of the bid sheet. Persons desiring to bid may do so by writing their name, bid number and the amount of the bid on the bid sheet. Bids will be disqualified if the first bid is not equal to or more than the starting bid. • Each new bid must be written on the next blank line available on the bid sheet. Please follow protocol for bid incriments when making bids. • After the silent auction closes, a runner will bring the winning bid sheet to the winning bidder.
Super Silent Auction (5:00 - 7:00 p.m.)
• The super silent auction will begin at 5:00 p.m. on the concourse level of the McLeod Center and close at 7:00 p.m. • The bid process for the super silent auction is the same as the silent auction (please see Silent Auction directions above). • Any item that has a recurring bid at 6:59 p.m. will have a blind bid off at the discretion of the attendants working
Live Auction (Begins at 8:15 p.m.)
• The live auction will begin following program and continue uninterrupted until all items have been sold. Items will be on display all evening in the McLeod Center on the arena floor. • Each auction item is numbered. The auctioneer item announcer will call out the numbered item and give a brief description. The auctioneer will then start the bidding process. Bidders can accept a bid called by the auctioneer by raising their bid cards. After the final bid, a runner will bring the winning bid sheet to the winning bidder. **All auction packages must be redeemed within 365 days of purchase**
