McWane Science Center

Bring the kids and enjoy a full day of fun and learning at the McWane Science Center in the heart of downtown Birmingham. As the South’s leading science center, it features four floors of hands-on exhibits, stunning aquariums, interactive live shows, ancient dinosaur fossils and a giant screen IMAX dome theater. The family-friendly atmosphere invites visitors of all ages to come and discover the fun of science through the interactive exhibits. The high energy, hands-on exhibits teach visitors how science solves problems and how it helps us understand ourselves and our amazing world. Visitors can make their own dinosaur animation show, challenge a robot, track a hurricane and visit hundreds more. Create your own stop-action animation at this interactive exhibit.

Visit the IMAX Dome Theater at the McWane Science Center.

McWane Science Center’s IMAX Dome Theater puts you in the center of the action by projecting spectacular quality images onto the 5-story-tall, 280-seat dome screen and delivering intense surround sound through 3 tons of speakers and subwoofers. Currently playing

Birmingham Barons at Regions Park

The whole family will enjoy a day of fun at Regions Park watching the Birmingham Barons. Regions Park is one of the most beautiful parks in all of minor league baseball. The 2008 season marks the 109th season of baseball in Birmingham. Individual tickets or group plans can be purchased at www.barons.com.

Birmingham Zoo

This kangaroo call the Birmingham Zoo home.

The Birmingham Zoo is Alabama’s most popular non- profit attraction. Each year the zoo draws more than 500,000 visitors. Approximately 800 animals of more than 200 species make their homes at the Birmingham Zoo, including 80 species of birds, 80 of reptiles, and 60 mammals. Vulcan Park and Museum

Vulcan Park and Museum is home to the world’s largest cast iron statue and features spectacular panoramic views of Birmingham. Located atop Red Mountain, Vulcan Park and Museum tells the story of the city of Birmingham’s past, present and promise for the future. Vulcan, the Roman god of fire and forge, was originally built in 1904 and has stood as a symbol of Birmingham for over 100 years. Vulcan Park is open seven days a week from 7 - 10 p.m. Vulcan Center and Tower Observation Balcony is open Monday Saturday, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. and Sunday 1-6 p.m. Evening hours for Vulcan Tower Observation Balcony are daily 6-10 p.m.
