UNIVITED GUEST

by Ashlee Johnson

Aint nobody scared of love! Love had the nerve to show up on my doorstep 3 years ago, and I was like… “nah Love, she not here..” Sike…I was like… “yea Love c’mon in!” and love came in draggin behind him sin…yup. And Love called out to his ride “I’ll be back, yo, in three years…” Love’s ride was named Common Sense, or Maturity. I can’t remember which one love left behind when he walked in that day. Maybe both were there. But anyway I say “Hey Love, watcha doin here this time?!” And I was excited cuz love was blind, but Love wasn’t surprised. He walked on in and drew my blinds! Leavin me all exposed and stuff… But I let it slide. Until the tenth time, then it got real. Yea real real cuz I said “Look, Love, if you leave me exposed again imma leave yo behind, cuz I don’t deserve the way you keep me here all open and cold and…exposed..” then I froze. | words |

Cuz Love said “I luv u.” Yes girl! Love said he luv me…in a text message. And he said “iluvu“…on da phone!!! It didn’t matter that his love was spelled wit one less letter than mine because I would never make the connection that the one less letter meant the world in real life! But I loved him and he luvd me 2. So anyway me and my love was happy! Love moved in wit me and we was happy. We talked and joked all da time cuz we was happppyyy! Love said “shut the f**k up dumba** b***h!” But he was jus jokin girl…cuz we was happpyyyy, remember? Then people started hatin on my Love, saying I could do better and I didn’t deserve the way love was treatin me. WHAT? They jus was jealous…they aint have my love. I think their names were EXACTLY and RIGHT. But remember I said love was blind, so he couldn’t even see Exactly Right, and them. And so we continued to be happpyyyy! For three years. Then love changed his number, and some machine told me to stop calling on Love, cuz Love wasn’t answerin that phone no mo! I aint have nuttin to do, so I called Love’s friends that dropped him off that one day three years ago…Common Sense and Maturity; remember them? But, guess what, my Love didn’t go back to them either. Smh. I was pissed. So when I saw Love’s bags still at my door I kicked that baggage out and put him right on the curb…yup, Love’s sin went flyin all the way to the curb. You know what I did next, don’t you? I met up wit Love’s abandoned friends, Common Sense and Maturity, and them two showed me how to love EXACTLY RIGHT. …Love was a dangerous somebody! He got all comfortable and made me think I was special. But love don’t know nothin…this fool tried to fight me and all I did was open the door for him! Nope, aint nobody scared of love! But we should be.
