What placement test scores are required? All students must take the ACT, SAT, CPT and/or PERT. Any combination of scores may be used. The ACT, SAT, CPT or PERT scores may not be older than two years. Please see your high school counselor for information regarding your one-time free PERT. For more information on testing, visit: www.palmbeachstate.edu/testing.xml.

How do I get started? Contact your high school counselor to get complete information and the forms you will need to apply. Home educated students should contact the Home Education Office of Palm Beach County School District for information and forms.

Will I have to pay? No, in most cases you are exempt from tuition and laboratory fees for the courses taken through dual enrollment and early admission.

Early admission students must maintain a cumulative college GPA of 2.0 or higher and 12 credit hours per semester to remain in the program.

Textbooks are provided to public school students free of charge through the School District of Palm Beach County; however, students enrolled in home education programs or private secondary schools must purchase their textbooks.

The credits that students earn will count toward both a high school diploma and a college degree or vocational certificate. It is important to check with your counselor to determine how specific courses apply toward your high school graduation requirements and what credits are awarded.

What else do I need to know about the programs? Dual enrollment students must earn a grade of “C” or higher in all college level courses to continue enrollment; earning a “D” or “F” will result in dismissal from the program and prevent you from enrolling in any additional dual enrollment or early admission courses.

Remedial education, physical education skills and some recreation courses are not available for dual enrollment.

Students in these programs should obtain a Palm Beach State ID card: www.palmbeachstate.edu/panthercard.xml
