Sherley Arias-Pimentel ’19 makes her mark on Canterbury with Saints on the Hill, now in its third successful year.

S

herley Arias-Pimentel ’19 had never been to Canterbury’s hilltop campus until she was already enrolled in the School. But, “it honestly couldn’t have gone any better,” as she puts it. “It just clicked.” During Revisit Day, she shadowed Nelle Carmody ’18, now an alumna of the School and one of her closest friends, and thought, “Yep, this is it, this is my School.” Now in her Sixth Form year, Sherley has certainly made Canterbury her School. As a proctor in South House, Sixth Form Council Member, Managing Editor of The Tabard, and President of the Canterbury Diversity and Inclusion Club (CDIC), Sherley is a notable presence on campus. And while she enters her final year as a welldefined leader, one of the things that makes Sherley stand out as such is that she has created a space for her peer students to do the same—to be voices on campus in their own right, to feel as if they are known members of the community, to carve pockets in which they feel that Canterbury is truly their School. She calls this opportunity Saints on the Hill. It’s a time (School Meeting) and place (Maguire Auditorium) for current students and faculty members to, simply, speak. Each week, a different community member is spotlighted through Saints on the Hill. They share their most tightly held
