University of New Haven baseball team. His son, Eric, two grandchildren, a stepson, Warren Pratt, and wife Patty, and many nieces and nephews survive him. Five sisters and two brothers predeceased him. Manuel G. Pereyo ’52 Manuel G. Pereyo ’52 died on October 27, 2016, in San Juan, Puerto Rico. “I am sure he would want his friends to remember his lively conversations and ability to remember places, names, events, and activities in great detail,” said Betina Castellvi, his daughter-in-law. “He would strike up a conversation with anybody and had the uncanny ability to find some special connection with the person.” His wife Aixa Gomez, two children, and brother Luis Pereyo ’49 survive him. Philip A. Faix Jr. ’54 Philip A Faix Jr. ’54 died on September 22, 2016. He was born in Philadelphia and was the second child of Dr. and Mrs. Philip A. Faix. After graduating from Canterbury, Phil went on to graduate from Yale University and Georgetown University Law Center. He had a passion for literature, music, the Pittsburgh Steelers. He served in the Air Force from 1962 to 1966. Phil was married to Noreen Schaefer-Faix for twenty-five years. His three children survive him. Mark E. Tredennick ’58 Mark E. Tredennick ’58 of Austin, TX, died on June 30, 2016. He graduated from the University of Texas in Austin. In 1965, he married Lynne Buskirk in Midland, TX, and together they had three children. Mark served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a pilot during the Vietnam War and later for Trans World Airlines. He loved to ask probing questions, have deep talks, and had a great sense of humor. He also enjoyed the outdoors and taking his grandchildren on adventures in the woods. The most important thing to him was his family. He was a man of high integrity and served others well and was involved with Kairos Prison Ministry and Mobile Loaves and Fished in the Austin area. His wife, three children, ten grandchildren, four sisters and brother survive him. Guy M. Sava ’61 Guy M. Sava ’61 died on October 13, 2016. He was a retired neurosurgeon who loved to travel and spend time with his family. Guy’s wife, Rose, three children, and eight grandchildren survive him. Richard P. Largay ’65 Richard P. Largay, of Cummaquid, MA, died on April 26, 2016. Born in Waterbury, CT., the son of John and Catherine Largay, he was a graduate of Menlo College (CA), and the University of the Pacific Law School. While he grew up in Connecticut, he spent every summer on Cape Cod, first at Old Silver Beach Village in North Falmouth and later in Osterville. After law school he returned to the Cape and established a law practice in Hyannis. A highly respected lawyer, he was a significant part of the Cape’s legal, business, and civic communities for more than thirty-five years. A generous man, he donated much of his time and talent to civic organizations such as The Barnstable Land Trust, The Cotuit Kettleers, The Alliance to Protect Nantucket Sound, and Three Bays Preservation where he served as president. He was a member of the Beach Club in Craigville, the Oyster Harbors Club, and the Wianno Yacht Club where he served as Commodore. Richard was a gifted writer, speaker, photographer, sailor, and

fisherman who had an abiding love of Cape Cod and the water. Throughout the summer months, he could be found competing in a sailboat race or fishing for bluefin tuna offshore. He was a good athlete, a sports enthusiast, and a big fan of all of Boston’s professional sports teams, particularly the Red Sox. March Madness was one of his favorite times of the year. He was a man of integrity, without pretense, who was gentle, kind, and thoughtful, with a wonderful sense of humor. He could and would regale you with stories about fishing, sailing or the latest book he had read. His interests were wide ranging. You could count on him as a true friend who always was there to help with limitless generosity. He will be very much missed by all who knew him. He was one of eight children and the favorite uncle of sixteen nieces and nephews. His parents, sister Elizabeth Largay Terenzi ’74, brothers Robert and George ’62, uncle Vincent P. Largay ’49, and two nephews predeceased him. Brother Timothy L. Largay ’61, cousins Paul J. Largay ’75, Vincent B. Largay Jr. ’75, Ann Largay Jeninngs ’83, Harry W. Largay ’65, and godchild Amanda K. Jenkins ’94 survive him. Kenneth S. Nesdale ’65 Kenneth S. Nesdale ’65 died on November 18, 2016. He was a long time resident of New York City. He spent his childhood in Larchmont, NY, where he developed a life-long love for Long Island Sound, sailing, tennis, and gardening. Ken always spoke fondly of his Canterbury classmates, cherished time there, and looked forward to attending reunions. He often spoke highly of the education he received at Canterbury. In 1970, Ken obtained a BA in English and Political Science from Fordham University. He maintained an active interest in history, politics and writing throughout his life and based his career on these interests. He began his career as a legislative assistant for the State of New York under State Senator Anthony B. Gioffre and as a public relations aide to Assemblyman Richard E. Mannix. Ken shifted from politics to the business world where he used his writing skills beginning as a direct mail copywriter and then as an editor of business and professional books at Prentice-Hall, Inc. He moved on to Tiffany & Co., NY, as a corporate communications specialist. Ken became a contributing editor for Export Magazine and developed a column that focused on international commercial conditions including barter and trade. From there he became a proposal development writer/manager creating business proposals for prospective government and commercial clients. In retirement, Ken followed his life-long passion and was in the midst of writing a novel. He also took a series of history courses to feed his fascination with historical events and how these events shaped the world today. Ken is survived by his siblings: John S. Nesdale of New Rochelle, NY, Linda C. Nesdale of Darien, CT and Richard S. Nesdale of Encinitas, CA and brother-in-law Gary D. Bernhardy of Darien, CT and sister-in-law Robin C. Nesdale. He is also survived by his nephew Shane Nesdale of Mamaroneck, NY and niece Leah Nesdale of New Rochelle, NY. Barry S. Patterson ’70 Barry S. Patterson ’70 of Harwinton, CT, died on Saturday, October 1, 2016. He was the husband of Susan (Kozlak) Patterson and the son of Leonore Patterson and the late Irving Patterson. Barry was the president and CEO of The Patterson Oil Company. He loved to sail, work in his vegetable garden, watch hockey games, and especially spend time with his family. In addition to his wife and mother, three sons and a daughter survive him.
