' Helmet Head and Shoulders', 1952, by Henry Moore Wed 31 July, 11.30am -12.30pm (Talk, Jock Johnston), 1–3pm (Workshop, Jenny King) During the early 1950s Moore made a number of 'Helmet' sculptures, which in their angular and mechanistic appearance, evoked the violent memories of the Second World War. Following a talk introducing the work, the workshop will focus on the use of positive and negative shapes in this sculpture. You will create textured surfaces on paper using ink and wax resistant techniques to produce a more inspired form.
