Invigorating spaces, a simple but powerful ethos that has energised the colourful world of dynamic pot and planter business, Modern Muse. Stylishly designed and hand painted in Brisbane, husband and wife duet Georgia and Clayton have grasped the trend of designer greenery and complemented it with their unique range of lightweight fibreglass cylindrical pots. Serving as an effective yet affordable interior design narrative, Modern Muse marries the flawless blend of the latest colour palettes, trends and stylings to produce pots and planters that fuse organic style and personality into every home.

What sparked the inception of Modern Muse? Tell us about the people behind it. We started Modern Muse to combine both our passions to create a business in which we can both work together. My husband Clayton is a Construction Landscaper and myself a Graphic Designer, while I let my creative notions run wild he is the logical one crunching facts and figures and turning my ideas into an achievable project. From here Clayton took my computer generated designs and worked out how to apply them to a cylinder shaped pot, after trial and error and our perfectionist ways we succeeded and just like that Modern Muse was born out of the garage of our Brisbane home!

What is the drive behind Modern Muse? We wanted to create a timeless modern shaped pot that could be enjoyed indoors and outdoors without any limitations from the harsh outdoor elements. Although still handmade we wanted to step away from the rustic brushstroke painted texture and produce a smooth gloss finish to our pots. We also found that most pots available on the market were made either from terracotta or concrete making them extremely heavy and bulky. We wanted something that was extremely light in weight making them easy to move around the house and also cost effective to customers for shipping purposes. By creating a pot made purely of fibreglass we were able to achieve this. Our pots can easily blend with interior dĂŠcor and although we have a vast range of colour options our cylinder shape is simple as we still want the plant to take centre stage.

How important are plants and pots in interior design? We know that plants make us happier, help us recharge and even be more productive. But not only do they contribute to a healthy environment, indoor plants also play an important role in interior design. They bring in a living element that is portable, growing, and ever-changing, for a fraction of the cost of a new wall or architectural element. They provide function and form whilst looking beautiful. They can change the ambience and feel of a space while adding colour to complement any dĂŠcor. They enhance the design without interfering with other important design elements.

Styling is a big part of preparing a property for sale, why do stylists love using your pots? Property stylists find indoor plants and pots extremely beneficial when styling a property for sale. The easiest, most obvious and most effective way to fill empty spaces in a home is with a plant. There is a softness in plants that helps warm a home, and because plants are in fact alive, they are also an indication of a home that is lived-in and loved. Our lightweight pots are loved by property stylists as they are easy to move, durable and stackable.
