Govt Girls College Mardan win BISE Inter-College overall games trophy P ESHAWA R —Govt College Mardan clinched the overall trophy of the InterCollege Girls Games held under the aegis of the Directorate of Sports Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Mardan here on Tuesday. Chairman BISE Mardan Mushtaq Ahmad, Secretary BISE Mardan Tariq Jan, Haleema Bagum, Principal Girls College Mardan, Director Sports Muhammad Sabir, Assistant Director Sports Asia Noor, officials, players and large number of spectators were also present during the Annual Day Sports ceremony of the BISE Mardan. Girls College Mardan secured overall trophy by recording 30 points, followed by Govt Girls College Swabi with 20 points and Govt Girls College Pabbi remained at third with 12 points. The players Urooj Ali and Zainab were jointly declared as best players of the Games as both secured 27 points each. Urooj Ali and Zainab took two gold medals each and a silver medal. Urooj claimed

gold medals in 100m, 200 and silver medal in high jump while Zainab claimed two gold medal in discus throw and javelin throw and silver medal in 400m. All affiliated colleges with BISE Mardan took part in various games comprising table tennis, volleyball, football, basketball, cricket, handball, and tug-ofwar. The events organized by the Directorate of Sports BISE Mardan on various grounds wherein all the affiliated colleges took part, said Organizing Secretary Asia Noor while presenting her annual report. She lauded the support extended by Chairman BISE Mardan Mushtaq Ahmad, Secretary BISE Tariq Jan, Principal Girls College Mardan Haleema Begum. She said without their support they could not be able to hold the event in a befitting manner. Along with hold Inter-College Girls competitions, BISE Mardan also organized eight different games wherein all the affiliated Govt Higher Secondary School in which Govt Higher Secondary School

Pakistan A Team comprises of Ghazanfar Mehmood and Ahmed Baig while Pakistan B Team is Ashiq Hussain and Nadeem Aslam. During this championship the events at stake are Men’s National Champions title, ladies national champion title, international team Match and Inter Association Team Match.

In the race for the Inter Association Team Title the contenders are the Sindh A and B Teams captained by Asad I.A.Khan.Other provincial teams are Punjab A and Punjab B ,the Federal Team from Islamabad captained by Wing Cmdr (r) I.N.Khokhar and there is the Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa Team. Amongst the Ladies, the prominent contenders are Shahzadi Gulfam of Punjab Police,Maryama Khan of Lahore Gymkhna, Mrs Tahira Nazir from Rawalpindi and Ghazala Yasmin who is considered the undisputed champion of ladies golf in Pakistan. ISLAMABAD—Pakistan team will be participating in the International Ropes Skipping Championship scheduled to be held in China from May 16 to 23. According to Adnan Malik, Secretary, Pakistan Ropes Skipping Federation (PRSF) the four-member selection committee including Rana Tanveer Ahmed (chairman) and members Prof. Muhammad Sohail Kayani, Raja Ghulam Rasool Zubari and Abdul Gaffar will select the final line up of players for the mega event. As many as 100 players (male and female, under-17) will be participating in the trials. “The date of the trials is yet to be decided,” he said. Greens win PUTA Inter-Faculty T20 Cricket trophy

PESHAWAR—Opener Ikhlaq Hussain steered PUTA Green by shinning with both bat and ball in the final against PUTA White team in the PUTA Inter-Faculty Twenty20 Cricket Championship played here at University Campus ground on Tuesday. Opener Ikhlaq hammered a cracking 42 runs including five boundaries and one six besides grapping three timely wickets by playing a key role in his team success. He also declared as man of the match. The Twenty20 event was jointly organized by Peshawar University Teachers Association (PUTA) with a strong support and collaboration of Directorate of Sports University of Peshawar with a total of six teams comprising PUTA Green skipper by Dr. Irshad Ur Rehman, PUTA White Dr. Naveed Ahmad, PUTA Blues Dr. Qaiser Shah, PUTA Yellow Dr. Junaid, PUTA Orange Dr, Khan Alam, PUTA Red Dr. Suleman Amin took part. Earlier, PUTA White won the toss and elected to field first. PUTA Green while batting first scored 112 runs with Ikhlaq Hussain scored 42 runs, Shahid Ali scored 20 runs and Usman and Asif scored 15 and 14 runs respectively. He said the management of the University is very keen in involving its students for healthy sports activities. He also appreciated the teaching faculty for coming and holding sports activities wherein teachers enthusiastically participated. He said it is a good sign that six teams consisting of all teachers took part in the Championship played on league basis and among them PUTA Green and PUTA White reached to the final. He also appreciated Director Sports UoP for maintaining lush green grounds of the University. He said it is a good source for the UoP to have lush green grounds.
