A proposal for increasing the expenditure on electoral campaign for a candidate of membership of National Assembly is under consideration according to which the limit of amount being spent has been raised from Rs 1.5 million to Rs 5 million while that for the candidate of membership of provincial assembly has been raised from Rs 1 million to Rs 3 million, Secretary Election Commission observed. take notice of it. He said the Election Commission must have enough manpower to get the code of conduct implemented otherwise it would be impossible to implement it. MQM’s Iqbal Qadri said instead of postal ballot, computerized system be introduced to enable overseas Pakistanis to cast their vote. He said free and fair elections were impossible until and unless the election expenditure was strictly enforced. He demanded that before the elections, record of all the candidates be obtained from the State Bank to ensure that they were not defaulters.
