Did you stumble upon your career or was it something that you always wanted? Interior design was something that inspired me since the time I was 12 years old. Interior consultants fascinated me like magicians! What was your “aha!” moment? When I got to do my first solo residential project. Did you ever consider or experience a career change? Never! I would be lost, miserable and purposeless, if I stopped practicing what I do. However, I have diversified into other business ventures and will continue to do so. When was time you felt completely discouraged and how did you push through it? I felt discouraged when a reputable company stole a client very sneakily. It made me so mad! Lack of ethics in this country makes me loose hope and get discouraged but I learnt to let go by being a bigger person and handling the situation gracefully. What was the best advice that your mentor gave you? Do it with passion or don’t do it at all..

The stress of multi tasking and managing responsibilities will age you before time. And if you are a working mom, finding the right balance will be a big struggle. Name on boss lady that you admire and how she still inspires you? My ex boss Naheed Mashooqullah. She is my mentor, I call her ‘Guru’. She inspires me professionally and also on a personal level. Describe a day in your life. Oh dear! School runs in the morning, site visits or factory visits, non stop physical exhaustion post work with toddlers, bedtime ritual, read, dinner with hubby and pass out. I do however take out time to research new business possibilities every day.

“THE STRESS OF MULTI TASKING AND MANAGING RESPONSIBILITIES WILL AGE YOU BEFORE TIME. AND IF YOU ARE A WORKING MOM, FINDING THE RIGHT BALANCE WILL BE A BIG STRUGGLE.”

What are the top 3 things you cherish in your life? My babies, my work, and mental health. What is #1 thing that is yet to be ticked off your bucket list? Northern lights in Iceland. What does nobody tell you about being the boss?

Complete this sentence: To me, a #BossLady is…” Someone who is comfortable in her own skin, confident and does not feel threatened by any individual. What did you learn from your biggest failure? That life is nothing but a ball of unpredictability and one must learn to have a thick skin to survive and let each failure burn the passion in you to grow stronger & feistier.

Which world leader would you most like to have dinner with? No one. However if I could go back into time, I would love to meet our country’s founder Mohammad Ali Jinnah. What advice would you give to young girls out there who have dreams and goals like yours? You may have all the reasons why it wont work but you only need just one why it will. There is no passion in playing small so don’t limit your dreams. It is the only fuel for success. 2018
