UoG, local media join forces to uplift education

Senior journalists columnists and editors from the print and digital media in Gujrat have vowed to support the cause and uplift of higher education by joining forces with the University of Gujrat

It was announced at a Press conference during a visit of the UoG Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Mushahid Anwar to the Gujrat Press Club the other day Dr Mushahid s candid approach and student-centric policies have earned him so good a repute that he is regarded the most suitable person to replace Dr Shabbar Atiq whose four-year tenure had ended earlier this week

Tariq and other senior journalists warmly welcomed the UoG VC upon his arrival at the Press Club and expressed their satisfaction upon his taking the helm of the varsity tion of the Traders Welfare Association, Blue Area, Islamabad that visited ICCI led by its President Raja Hasan Akhtar and highlighted the key issues faced by the traders Ahsan Bakhtawari further said that ICCI intends to organize a mega shopping festival in the Blue Area in collaboration with Association so that trade activities can flourish and customers can also get a chance of shopping at reasonable rates Raja Hassan Akhtar, President Blue Area Traders Welfare Association highlighted the important issues of traders of his market He said that the non-availability of parking the old sewage system and non-functional street lights are the main issues of the Blue Area, so CDA should solve them on an urgent basis He stressed a flower market in Blue Area
They promised to extend support to Dr Mushahid and go all out to win support for all the positive initiatives to promote higher education in the Gujrat region
They called upon the VC to revive the UoG link with the media by restarting workshops and seminars for the training of the media on regular basis I am a straightforward person I am not afraid of criticism as long as it is positive and constructive ” Dr Mushahid said
He threw light on the few initiatives he took recently including a full-fee waiver for deserving students from the first semester and medical treatment expense up to a maximum of Rs100,000
He stressed a positive role of media in advancing the cause of higher education saying the national dream of sustainable development cannot be achieved without the media sincerely and actively fulfilling its responsibilities
The journalists assured the vice chancellor that the media will be putting their best foot forward to help UoG achieve higher education goals besides pruning trees and said that CDA should take steps in this regard He assured President ICCI of full support from the traders of Blue Area and said that the respect given to the traders of Blue Area during his tenure was probably never given in the history of the Chamber He said that during Ahsan Bakhtawari s tenure, the problems of traders are being solved and the remaining ones are expected to be solved soon K h a l i d I q b a l M a l i k G r o u p L e a d e r ICCI said that the Blue Area Association i s v e r y i m p o r t a n t i n t r a d e p o l i t i c s a s i t s members are more than any market or industrial area association He said that ICCI has always given importance to the traders of the Blue Area, and during his tenure as President of ICCI the

Posters appeared in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) asking the Kashmiri people to observe August 5 Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir as Black Day According to a report by Kashmir media service (KMS) on Friday on August 5 2019 the Modi-led Hindutva government revoked Article 370 granted special status to the internationally recognized disputed territory Jammu and Kashmir, and imposed a brutal military and police siege The appeal was made by almost all Kashmiri freedom organizations through posters appearing in Srinagar and other parts of the Kashmir valley The posters urged people to observe August 5 as Youm-eIstehsal-e-Kashmir Posters again appeared in Srinagar and other parts of the territory, rejecting the illegal and unilateral Indian actions of August 5, 2019 and appealing to the Kashmiris to observe the day as Black Day in IIOJK traders of the Blue Area were also given a red-carpet reception He assured that ICCI will play an active role in solving the issues of the traders of Blue Area
