Always secretly wanted to get creative with clothes, crafts or painting but didn’t know how to get started? You can now take the first steps with confidence; help is at hand from these crafty town centre businesses…who knows what it could lead to!

REMODE

Do you have old clothes lurking in the back of the wardrobe that just need a little care or adjustment to bring them back to life? ReMode can help! Based at 43b High Street, the team at ReMode aim to raise awareness of the environmental impacts of the fashion and textiles industry. As well their shop where you can buy, swap and donate clothing, they also run a series of workshops to help you get the most out of your clothes. So, if you’re looking to take a step back from fast fashion, why not give their garment repair & upcycling workshops a try? With everything from sewing on a button to taking up a hem, adjusting a waistband or fixing a zip, this informal and practical hands-on workshop will show you how to fix your clothes and save them from landfill. Taking place on the second Monday of every month, Meddle & Mend runs from 7pm – 9pm. Advance booking is essential. Tickets are £3.50 per session and available from www.remodeyouth.org/whats-on/

WHAT IF

What If is a self-reliant social enterprise focused on creativity and wellbeing. Operating from 25 Moss Street, there are a variety of workshops to choose from to help unleash your creative side. Crochet Buddies meet every Tuesday from 12.30pm - 2pm with Hazel from Craft Buddies. You can also bring your own crafting project and enjoy a cuppa and a chat during Friday Crafternoons, every Friday from 12.30pm - 5pm. And if the weekend suits you better, you can enjoy embroidery every Sunday from 12.30pm – 2pm as part of Sunday Stitching.

THE BUTTERFLY ROOM

The Butterfly Room is based within What If and offers an alternative and holistic health service, aiming to help people unlock wellbeing. On the first Monday of every month, you can join the Meditation Group from 7pm – 9pm – tickets are priced at £5 with refreshments included. Amanda at the Butterfly Room also hosts the ever-popular Angel Evening on the first Friday of each month from 7pm – 10pm. Demand for these sessions are high but there is a waitlist available – Refreshments are included in the £7 ticket price. Feel Good Friday takes place on the third Friday of the month from 7pm -10pm with either a donation for refreshments or paid tasters available. MADE IN PAISLEY

Headed up by the dynamic duo of Caroline Gormley and Sandy Guy, the Made in Paisley art studio and gallery on the High Street has become a catalyst for countless kids to get in front of the easel. But an increasing number of adults are also getting involved in the art classes as an avenue to focus on the creative side of life.

You can sign up to join the classes at any time, or if you want to surprise the budding artist in your life this Christmas, they also offer gift vouchers for classes for four weeks or 12. Adult Art Classes are held on Wednesdays 10am -12noon, 1pm - 3pm, 7pm – 9pm and on Thursdays 1pm – 3pm. The ladies at The Haberdashery on 45 High Street in Paisley town centre stock a fantastic range of yarn and knitting accessories as well as materials including craft cotton, ribbon and threads if you want to get in some practice at home before signing up for a workshop. They stock a number of Get Started Crafting Kits too ranging from crochet and embroidery sets to knitting kits and crafty gifts.
