From small beginnings in 1982, ACCORD Hospice has blossomed into an esteemed and well-respected organisation, now caring for more than 1,200 people with life-limiting illnesses across the community each year - at the Hospice or at Home. “It’s thanks to people like your readers that we’ve developed end of life care across the community and kept it free for 40 years,” said Fundraising Manager David McFadden. “From the handful of patients at the start, to the growing numbers we’re helping today, every piece of support means that stressful times can become special times to say goodbye for patients and their families. “During the past 40 years, ACCORD’s care has only been possible thanks to the incredible hard work, support and commitment of thousands of our volunteers, who have generously given their time and expertise in wide-ranging roles across the hospice – such as volunteering in ACCORD shops, supporting patients in the Inpatient Unit and in the community, helping out at ACCORD fundraising events and activities, tending to the hospice gardens and volunteering in the hospice’s offices.” ACCORD shops around Renfrewshire are part of the community and a huge section of the organisation’s

volunteering is carried out in their six shops, a hub of excitement, laughter and bargains of course. “The town centre shop in the Paisley Centre and the superstore on Glasgow Road continue to be a huge part of the Hospices income generation, both now and in the future, so thanks to everyone who shops with us or donates items to raise funds for hospice care,” added David. “We really appreciate everything you do and the difference you make. “We are also looking forward to bringing the annual ACCORD Art Exhibition to the town centre for the first time ever this September. “Our free to attend exhibition will be extra special this year as we celebrate 40 years, sponsored by Paisley First’s Love Local, Love Paisley campaign and based in a brand new venue, The Art Department within the Paisley Centre. 40 YEARS “So this year, we are looking back in awe at

OF CARE IN YOUR how far we’ve come as a hospice, and we look to the future with renewed determination, hope and passion to expand and enhance our COMMUNITY care to continue to meet the diverse needs of our community for years to come.” Learn more about ACCORD Hospice and their work and how you can donate by visiting www.accordhospice. org.uk ACCORD Hospice shops can be found at 37 Glasgow Road and on the top floor of the Paisley Shopping Centre.
