Summer fun all summer long GLM is a year-round Montessori program that offers themed summer camps. With special summer activities within the Montessori program, we provide continuity for returning students and develop teacher/child/family relationships with new students.

Toddler Fun in the Sun (18 Months - 3 Years)

The summer is a great time for new toddlers to adjust to a day away from parents and other caregivers. The fundamentals of being “in school” are learned in a loving, fun environment. Toddlers attend age-appropriate assemblies and events and enjoy their own outdoor activities such as gardening and splashing in wading pools on warm days.

Summer Fun in the Sun (Pre-K thru Kindergarten)

In addition to the continuity of the Montessori classroom curriculum, there will be themed sessions in science, sports, creative arts and transportation. Other weekly activities include gardening, music/movement, yoga, art, cooking and water play.

Intro to the Performing Arts - Aug. 4 - Aug. 15 (For GLM 5 yr. olds only)

This program is optional for GLM 5 yr. olds enrolled in summer day camp. During Week One the children will be escorted daily for 1-1/2 hours, to the performing arts classroom (social hall) and will then be returned to their regular GLM classrooms for ongoing activities. Week Two, parents must drop children at the theater and staff will return them to GLM. They will learn dances and songs from specialists and will perform in groups as frogs and village children. Arts, crafts, scenery projects, movement classes and costumes are part of this introductory theatre program. Full 10-day attendance is required. Limited enrollment on a first-come, first-served basis.

Performing Arts Camp - August 4 - August 15 (Ages 6-14 yrs.)

In two short weeks, kids learn about theater, audition, casting, memorize roles and dances - and on Friday, August 15, put on an entire children’s opera. Working with theater professionals, this is an extraordinary opportunity for children who are interested in theater. This program is open to the general public. Full 10-day attendance is required. Limited enrollment on a first-come, first-served basis.

Don’t miss the Performing Arts Camp meetings for parents on Mar. 20, from 5:00pm to 6:00pm, at GLM, where we can answer all your questions. PERFORMANCES Azteca - Rehearsal - 10:00am-August 15th Parents and children under 5 yrs old (free of charge). FILMING ALLOWED THIS PERFORMANCE ONLY. The Story of:

A Children’s Opera by William Bokhout A fable about how people who make music together cannot be enemies. The Gods were constantly fighting over who was the best and most loved. The two who fought the most were Night God and Wind God. Each had their own musicians, Night God had the rhythm and drums, Wind had the notes and melodies. The Sun grew tired of their fighting and one day during a particularly strong battle he captured their musicians and left for his realm, never to return, for he loved music more than anything and wanted the musicians for his own. Without the Sun the world is cold, the people fight for food, for warmth of fire, and shelter from the storms. We do not trust what we cannot see. Nothing grows in darkness. Azteca, a particularly gifted and spiritual boy, ascends the mountain to pray to the Gods to cease their fighting and end the wars on earth. Tezcatlipoca and Quetzalcoatl each attempt to talk the Sun God into returning but cannot. The Sun’s light is too bright for Tezcatlipoca, and the Sun’s heat is too intense for Quetzalcoatl. They devise a plan. Giving Azteca a special mask, they send Azteca, the only heart on earth that can sing, to convince the Sun to return and free the musicians. Azteca journeys across the land to reach the realm of the Sun, but first he must cross the ocean. Azteca pleads with Sun God and convinces Sun God to let him hear his musicians. Sun God falls asleep at the sound of the beautiful music, and Azteca leads them away. Suddenly awakened, the Sun God in his rage flings his fiery arrows at Azteca who, shielded by the cloak and water horn, makes his escape. Returning to earth, the people have light from the Sun and are led by the musicians to make music together.
