HELLO & WELCOME Birth photography is a very special way to document and capture this special time for your growing family. It frees up Dad, Grandma or the friend who is there for moral support and allows the birthing team to be there to fully assist Mom while the photographer acts like a fly on the wall capturing away your bundle-of-joys journey into this world. It is more of a photojournalistic approach to photography and never has to mean explicit crowning shots. The photos & slideshow are essential to have and treasure and reflect upon when the days come and go and the memories fade. A baby is only born once. You only get one chance at capturing those moments; the first breath, the first cry, the first gaze at mom, the first reaction from siblings, the first bath, etc. You deserve to celebrate this time and make this a truly and remarkably wonderful experience you shall NEVER forget ... and if you do forget, don't worry, you got it captured!
HOW IT WORKS During your pregnancy we will meet 1-2 times to get to know each other, discuss your birth plan, go over any questions or concerns you have , etc. I encourage your partner to be available for one of those meetings so I can get to know them as well. Once you reach 37 weeks of pregnancy I start my on call period for you until the birth of your baby. During this time I am available to you 24/7 and make special arrangements to be available at a moments notice so I can make it to your birth. Typically my coverage at your birth starts in active labor (about 6-7 centimeters) through up to 2 hours following the birth of your baby. Every birth is different and we will discuss time lines, and when to call me in depth at your consultation. Within 48 hours of your birth 5 web optimized watermarked files will be emailed to you for immediate sharing with friends and family. With your permission a "sneak Peak" gallery will also be posted on Facebook and my blog. In 3 - 4 weeks, we will meet to view your images and slideshow. Your final gallery of edited images will be added to a password protected online gallery for 1 week of viewing. If your Collection includes any digital images, those will be available to download on our website.
WHAT TO EXPECT BEFORE YOUR SESSION I meet all of my clients for an in-person consultation. At this consultation, we start to get to know one another a little. I' II bring samples of my work for you to go over, and it's an opportunity for you to ask me any questions or voice any concerns you may still have. We'll go over your birth plan and my birth client questionnaire, and contract.
DURING YOUR SESSION I generally strive to be like a cat in the room: present, but not intrusive. I'm not usually an active participant in the birth- while I do hope to contribute to the caring, supportive energy surrounding the laboring family, and I will step in and offer to help if needed (I will of course fill your waterbottles, microwave your heat pads, and fetch the midwives/nurse. It's not my role to be a stated presence. Instead, I'm there to document what unfolds, as it unfolds, in as unobtrusive as a way as possible.
