With body and soul · Besides having an impressive technique and an unfettered joy at playing, this congenial, Michael Fix possesses a musical scope of astonishing breadth and versatility. With his solid technique, cultivated tone and vigorous groove, he makes a virtuosic display of his own compositions and interpretations from the realms of folk, ragtime, world music, jazz, classical, pop and musicals. As a young man inspired by Chet Atkins, Fix already concertized at the side of Leo Kottke, Albert Lee, Martin Taylor and, naturally, his role model and mentor Tommy Emmanuel. Fix is equally esteemed as an author of film music, a soloist with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra and as a workshop teacher. His music was honored with the Golden Guitar Music Award in the categories Best Instrumental and Best Instrumental Album Of The Year.
