Elizabeth Edmunds, M.D. 2013 Pennsylvania Family Physician of the Year Dr. Elizabeth Edmunds of Reading, Pennsylvania, the PAFP’s 2013 Family Physician of the Year, earned her Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from Misericordia University (formerly College Misericordia) in Dallas, Pennsylvania. She received a Master of Arts degree in organic chemistry from the University of Scranton, and graduated with an MD from the Woman’s Medical College of Pennsylvania (now part of the Drexel University College of Medicine) in Philadelphia. Edmunds completed her family medicine residency at the Wyoming Valley Family Practice Residency Program in Kingston. In addition to years of service to patients in varied capacities such as emergency room physician, OB-GYN coordinator and associate family practice residency director, Edmunds has a permanent Pennsylvania teaching certification in chemistry and mathematics and has taught subjects including chemistry, math, English, and more. She is also a retired commander in the United States Naval Reserve. Edmunds has been a member of the Pennsylvania Academy of Family Physicians for 40 years.
