SUSTAINABLE GARDENING AND RENEWABLE ENERGIES: THE FUTURE IS GREEN Nursery gardening and respect for the environment have already come together at Flormart in 2014 with the Agrienergy project. This Green Exhibition is devoted to the wood-energy supply chain for the nurserygardening division and technologies for energy saving which have become essential factors of innovation and competitiveness for companies. In 2015, Flormart will reinforce the sustainability theme by addressing Sustainable gardening and the connection between urban planning and landscape, introducing numerous eco-friendly and technological solutions in terms of quality, creativity, research and use of new materials in the applied gardening field. Particular attention will be given to the integration between technological and nursery-gardening components, for protecting biodiversity, health and improvement of quality of life in urban areas.


FOCUS ON URBAN GREEN AREAS The theme “Productive Green areas”, at the heart of the 2015 edition of “Focus verde urbano”, organized by Il Verde Editoriale, will be the convention topic preceding the awards ceremony for the 16th edition of “La Città per il Verde” (“The Green City”). This year a special section will be devoted to city vegetable gardens, teaching gardens, agricultural parks, and to the other various forms of urban farming that involve technologically advanced solutions. The afternoon field trip “fuori Flormart” will be a sort of crosstown itinerary through the City of Padua.

Returning following the success of its first edition: Agrienergy, the Flormart special event devoted to renewable energies applied to nursery gardening, protected crops and greenhouses. This initiative presents solutions for adaptation and renewal of systems, climate control of greenhouses, and new energy-saving technologies.

International technological gardening forum, which in its 7th edition brings exemplary cases to the show of ecological approaches in planning of urban landscape or green infrastructure: the lines of development of the future city are traced returning to green plants, trees and flowers their central role. This requalification of urban areas is a fundamental element for making cities livable.

INTERNATIONAL PLANNING COMPETITION This international competition is devoted to landscape architects, designers, planning studios, ornamental plant producers, and, in general to all gardening and landscape professionals. The competition aims at creating awareness about the urban landscape, bringing value to the architecturenature relationship, and highlighting the importance of green areas as a sustainable resource for public health and the improvement of quality of life in cities. The nursery-gardening sector thus assumes a strategic role in land protection and biodiversity.


THE 2015 AWARDS: TRADITION TIED TO INNOVATION Flormart will once again be presenting the prestigious, international Oroflor and Flormagazine Awards: two forms of recognition from the specialized Italian and foreign press, for the products and companies who have distinguished themselves for their quality proposals. Also on schedule is the Fabio Rizzi Award, an important Italian award which since 1981 has recognized with the title of “Floriculturist of the year” an entrepreneur who stands out for his/her professional position on the market as well as for his/her social and human commitment. The second part of the award, originating in 1997, attributes the title “Green Professional” to a non-grower trade professional who has performed technical-scientific studies, research, support in favor of the national division.

In 2014 over 80 foreign trade professionals participated in Flormart and more than 2,000 business/sales meetings were held between exhibitors and foreign buyers. For the 2015 edition, through the fruitful collaboration with the ICE – Agency for the promotion of Italian business abroad - and some Italian Chambers of Commerce abroad, buyers have already been selected and invited from: France, the Czech Republic, Egypt, Morocco, Poland, Spain, Switzerland, Tunisia, Turkey and Hungary. Moreover, representatives from some of the most prestigious European sector newspapers and journals will be present, including journalists from Holland, Poland, Spain, Germany, and Hungary.
