JonaThan caMpozano, JD ’17

Staff Attorney at Neighbors Link Community Law Practice

Jonathan Campozano is a Staff Attorney with Neighbors Link Community Law Practice where he provides legal services to immigrants in New York. He teaches immigration law in WCC's Paralegal Certificate Program.

Prior to that, Jonathan served as an Assistant County Attorney in Westchester County’s Law Department, in both the Family Court and Appeals, Opinions and Legislation bureaus. He was also an Associate Counsel with the New York State Senate Democratic Majority, where he worked on significant pieces of legislation, including the Farm Laborers Fair Labor Practices Act and the Driver’s License Access and Privacy Act (“Green Light NY”). Jonathan began his law career as an Immigrant Justice Corps Fellow with the Empire Justice Center in Yonkers.

Jonathan graduated from SUNY Purchase with a Bachelor’s Degree in Legal Studies, and obtained his Juris Doctor Degree from the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University. There, he also served as president of both the Pace Immigration Law Society and Latin American Law Students Association, and he remains an Alumni Admissions Ambassador for prospective law students.

hana heineken, JD ’10 Attorney at ClientEarth

Hana Heineken (she/her) recently started as an attorney on corporate law and finance at ClientEarth, while also being in pursuit of her LLM in securities law at Georgetown Law. Previously to ClientEarth, Hana was a Senior Attorney in the Climate and Energy Program of the Center for International Environmental Law (CIEL), where she focused on holding financial institutions accountable for their climate impacts.

Prior to CIEL, Heineken was a Senior Campaigner on Responsible Finance at the Rainforest Action Network (RAN), where she led global campaigns on multinational banks for their role in the climate crisis, deforestation, and human rights violations. Notably, her work led to the adoption of precedent-setting policies by the largest banks in Japan. Prior to RAN, Hana worked as a Senior Campaigner at Global Witness, focused on investigating and strengthening regulations on the global illegal logging trade as well as advocacy on World Bank environmental and social safeguards. Hana is a native of Tokyo, Japan. She graduated from Princeton University with a BA in Politics and earned her JD at Pace Law School, specializing in international and environmental law. She is barred in NY and DC.

Najia is a business immigration lawyer dedicated to helping employers across industries mobilize global talent. She leads Wiggin and Dana’s Business Immigration and Compliance Practice and is also a Partner at wiggin(x), the firm’s division focused on emerging entities and entrepreneurs. Najia is often regarded as “in-house” immigration counsel for sophisticated employers seeking to navigate U.S. business immigration laws and the intersection of related employment, tax, corporate, and other regulatory areas. Najia also serves as Co-Chair of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee, a role through which she works to ensure all firm professionals receive equitable access to meaningful work opportunities and mentorship. She is a James W. Cooper Fellow of the Connecticut Bar Foundation, a Benchmark Litigation Labor and Employment Star, and a National Law Review Go-To Thought Leader. Najia was also recognized by the Connecticut Law Tribune for its inaugural Diversity Initiative Legal Award and named to the Lawyers of Color Hot List for 2022. Najia obtained her law degree from Pace. While in law school, Najia served on Honor Board, cofounded and served on the Board of the Muslim Law Students Association, and served on the Board of Asian American Law Student Association. She also devoted time to the Immigration Justice Clinic and represented indigent immigrants in complex removal proceedings, including immigration raid detainees, women with claims under the Violence Against Women Act, and asylees seeking immigration relief in the U.S. She continues similar work on a pro bono basis.

ShaMik n. TriveDi, JD ’08

Special Counsel at the Internal Revenue Service’s Office of Chief Counsel

Shamik N. Trivedi is a Special Counsel with the Internal Revenue Service’s Office of Chief Counsel. Based in Washington, Shamik serves as a legal advisor to the Large Business & International (LB&I) Division of the IRS, counseling examiners and attorneys on issues impacting IRS audits, appeals, and litigation. From June 2021 to April 2022, Shamik served as Senior Tax Counsel in the White House, advising the Office of Presidential Personnel and the White House Counsel’s Office on tax matters. In that role, Shamik oversaw and was responsible for the tax compliance of all nominees and appointees of the President, prepared dozens of witnesses for meetings and testimony before the Senate, and routinely briefed senior administration officials.

Prior to his public service, Shamik was a Senior Manager in Grant Thornton LLP’s Washington National Tax Office in Washington, D.C., where he represented individuals and businesses before the IRS in examinations and appeals, and in matters before the Office of Chief Counsel. He began his career as a legal reporter for Tax Analysts, a widely-read technical tax publication, where he covered Congress, the courts, IRS, the Treasury Department, and the Department of Justice.

Shamik is a frequent speaker on tax procedure and ethics and serves as Vice Chair of the Standards of Tax Practice Committee of the American Bar Association (ABA) Tax Section. He was a Nolan Fellow of the ABA Tax Section from 2019-2020, and is a former chair of the Federal Bar Association (FBA) Section on Taxation (2017-2018). From 2019-2020, he served as a member of the board of the Community Tax Law Project, based in Richmond, VA.

Shamik credits Bridget Crawford and her Federal Income Tax I course from the Spring of 2007 for sparking his interest in the tax law. He lives in Washington with his wife, Adrienne, an attorney with the EPA and also a 2008 Pace Law graduate, and his two daughters.
