By creating a non-materialistic world, people will no longer have this prevalent obsession of wanting to own goods, thus illustrating our concept of use or usefulness can be adopted to replace the meaning of ownership. The consumer will then borrow commodities for themselves and place them back when required. When artefacts no longer function, the grand towers are able to remanufacture, repair and archive such goods for future generations.

However, even though each tower contains its own types of machinery, the exterior is being mirrored through the pipes and signs to demonstrate equality in this society.

Leading down to the bottom of the tower, there is the underground where it is purely a space for humans . The beauty of the underground is shadowed by the towers allowing people to see the underbelly of it all. It is almost as if, the towers are floating above space. The underground is mainly utilised as a communal area. The area is flexible, allowing the inhabitants to create space for entertainment, market hall and other activities. Thus adopting these schemes and design systems, we have demonstrated a system of self-sufficiency for a world that is scarce in goods and consumables.

Gender Factory as a social condenser creates an alternative social space characterized by freedom, equality and abundance. The president of Planet City is not defined by their gender, and gender became a performance which is just a social norm that reifies the categories. We propose a gender factory, a space where the construction of gender can be performed. It could be a factory of De-identification, which would deconstruct the current understanding of gender as binary.

In Planet City, a place of seven billion inhabitants, everyone is no longer required to follow traditional regulations–it’s a place where people can enjoy leisure, and time is no longer a luxury.

Gender Factory inspires people to find freedom, define and redefine, construct and deconstruct their own regime about gender. This enormous social space is not just about production and consumption. It creates the opportunity for new perspectives and a new order of things by showing the relative nature of all that exists.

According to the Xenofeminism manifesto, biology is not destiny.

Whilst ‘nature’ is often rolled out as an argument for gender roles (‘born this way’ etc.) and their binary nature, these conclusions are not always supported by reason, logic or scientific evidence. And even if there were a ‘natural’ and deterministic gender binary.

Humans have modified and gone beyond nature many times and should continue to do so around sex, reproductive abilities, gender and other forms of human freedom. Gender does not determine our personality, preferences or capabilities. We will only realize our true potential as individuals when we stop using gender to guide our identities.

We present the Gender Factory as an architectural type–a social condenser. By trapping the fragments of the Planet City as an urban context, which is conceived as a new form of collective consciousness. These fragments of the city are moulded by the events that take place on the local site whilst still contained within the overall geometry of the Planet City. The form of the building serves as a cell, the space in between providing an encounter and fantasy for all the spectators and performers.

Gender Factory creates an unconventional celebration of carnival; during this carnival, rank, biology and gender are abolished, and everyone is equal. People are reborn into truly human relations, not simply imagined but experienced.

An ethical and sustainable discipline must consider sustainability as a multi-faceted solution to the social, cultural, economic, and environmental issues encountered in architectural practice. Sustainability should be considered in all areas in the design process: from the conceptualisation, the construction and building, the effects of the building once built on site and can utilise programs and systems to promote sustainable practice. Combining these elements at the forefront of conceptual design can create long-lasting, valid buildings for the community and be environmentally friendly without compromising user experience. At the conceptualisation of the building, the building’s entire life cycle must be evaluated and considered to create desiring results that will ensure sustainability goals are met.

In the next step of our design, we consider what kind of materials, structure method, architecture design, and technology would suit the Sydney environment and climate. 3D printing concrete is utilised for the ceiling because this technology reduces material wastage and diminishes the amount of concrete and reinforcements in our project. To minimise heat loss and glare within the building, we designed the vertical louvres, meshes, balcony on the façade of the building. Also, this design help to block out most direct sunlight throughout the day on the north and west facade to primarily protect from the harsh afternoon sun. The green part of our north façade (planter boxes behind the louvres) had some advantages, such as allowing for climatic control within the building and reducing onset costs to cool the office spaces. Finally, an entire glass façade was designed on the south side to allow natural light to penetrate through the building.

Combining the thermal and windcatcher system helped us design a particular 3D printing ceiling that allows us to use natural wind during the day and night to reduce the internal heat from our building. This strategy will substitute a percentage of the building’s annual electricity requirements and reduce the massive amount of energy lost. And also, with this form of ceiling and use of the concert, which had less carbon effect, we could reduce and half time effect of carbon footprint in our building. Please have a look at the document below.

02 SITE ANALYSIS

LOCATION

168 Walker St, North Sydney NSW 2060

The site of the project is located in north Sydney. There are many factors which we have to consider to select this location.

WIND SPEED

The site is located in one of windiest part of Sydney .The annual average of windspeet 13 km/h

SITE PLAN

The shape of the site suits our design. West-to-east direction is much longer than north-to-south . South wind is the best side to flow through a building in Sydney.

Wind Analysis

The main wind flow direction is from the south-to-north side of the building.

The annual wind direction in sydney.

Sun Analysis

Site located in the proper direction to receive natural sunlight to the north side of the building.

JUNE 21

The annual sun positions at sunrise andsunset in sydney.

MASSING

The building is divided into 3-parts with two green open areas. These could help better air circulation also giving a nice peaceful green environment for locals to socialize and have a relaxing time.

MATERIALLIBRARY

My library is a space where people enable hands-on experience with materials.

Powerhouse was the power station that supplied the Sydney Tram network with electricity. It was the heart of the community. The newly proposed Powerhouse entrance orientation highlights future potential connections to various cultural, educational and media institutions. This project is a material library focusing on digitally and traditionally experiences with materials. The visitors can learn more about the new technology materials, how to use them, and the traditional crafting materials. Hence this will make the powerhouse centre of the community again. The building will be constructed with a timber truss ceiling and glass panels. An Ethical and sustainable discipline must consider sustainability as a multi-faceted solution to the social, cultural, and environmental issues encountered in architectural practice.

The plant facade of our harris street side had some advantages: allowing climatic control within the building, reducing on-set costs to cool and giving shade for the making space. In addition, an entire glass façade was designed for the office and community centre area to allow natural light to penetrate the building. The brick facade will represent the original powerhouse building fading into the new form. Once the project has finished, this facility can use the advance to provide 3d printing / crafting for low-carbon construction purposes, other industries, or personal use.

Our library wants to be a place that does not only show you one side of the modern way of making with the material but also lets you experience the beauty of handcraft. An ethical and sustainable discipline must consider sustainability as a multifaceted solution to the social, cultural, and environmental issues encountered in architectural practice. In Progress)
