communication institute

Opening Ancoats A communication Institute is a mixed use vocational studies facility, a response to economical and social situation in Ancoats, Manchester. Taking into account 2015 shift in mandatory education till 18 years old, apprenticeship is encountered as a prerequisite to develop skills and adjustability to the future market. The institute disapproves of the existing enclosure and stagnation in Ancoats Conservation Area. In order to blur the physical and functional borders and become accessible for a variety of users, the building provides a variety of functions developing communication skills.

the policy changing the mandatory age for education from 2015 can increase a need for new schools, ones that will attract the 10% of students not attending them currently. A inclusion of industry provides skills for employability, while ability for communication and collaboration can enable adjustments to future trends within industries

exhibition preparation

paulina kowalska 10041345 3xD

Contextualising

The exhibition area has been perceived as an environment for adjustments and preparation of journey though the existing physical context. For that reason a series of measurements has been taken, together with understanding areas for movement and distribution of essential objects. As a group work starting from group brainstorming several ideas has been tested and adjusted, taking into consideration precedents for materiality and construction.
