DIY PROJECTS: Floating Gardens Tiered Bucket Container Upcycled Thrift Store Bag Planter

DIY projects

with Sunpatiens Ž SunPatiens can thrive in sun or shade and require very little care. Because of that, they are my go-to flower that takes me from spring through frost. And with so many colors to choose from, I just can’t help but find creative ways to plant more and more each year! Try one or all of these fun weekend projects, and your SunPatiens planters will be the talk of the neighborhood.

Create a colorful Floating garden with SunPatiens ®

This DIY project is a great way to add pops of color to your water features. Many of us plant flowers in containers around our fountains to create visual interest, but have you thought about incorporating blooms in your water feature? It may sound complicated, but it’s not! You can tackle this DIY project over a weekend. Whether you have a pool, pond, or a small lake, you can create this look with a few supplies and hardy SunPatiens. Because SunPatiens require very little care once they’re established, you can send them floating without worry. Combine them with other low-maintenance annuals and use the thriller, filler, and spiller concept to create colorful container combinations with visual interest. Reimagining a Thrift Store purse with SunPatiens ÂŽ

My friend Stephanie Rose of Garden Therapy came up with such a fun way to use SunPatiens. By making a few amendments to a straw purse she found at a thrift store, she created this festive summer planter for these Compact Royal Magenta SunPatiens. My mom had straw bags that she’d use for hauling freshly picked flowers or fruit from the garden to the house. I think this idea of re-purposing straw bags like she had into a decorative piece is just brilliant! Click here for the full list of materials and instructions for this project.

Tiered Bucket

planter

with SunPatiens ® This project is the ultimate container planting—using three containers to create one statement piece. This gave me an excuse to breathe new life into old galvanized buckets I had lying around. You can get creative, though, and use what inspires you.

This project is so simple and makes a big visual impact. You can find a list of materials and instructions here.
