When we design our helmets, we take into consideration all types of crash scenarios – from twisting and turning, to rotational and sideways, and especially the types of accidents that are indescribable. We account for impacts of all shapes and sizes. As a matter of fact, this is what keeps Kali Protectives founder, Brad Waldron, awake at night.

We realize there are a lot of “trends” and “buzzwords” saturating the bicycle industry and helmets are not immune to this manufacturing approach, but Kali has no interest in integrating technology into our helmets simply to create a marketing opportunity, follow a trend, or sticker our boxes with fancy terminology.

Our strategy is to constantly be rethinking, reworking, and testing to make sure our helmets keep your brain as safe as possible as well as stay up with the latest style trends. The goal is to create the safest helmets on the market, so you have peace of mind while out on your favorite roads, trails, and jumps.

We strive to keep pushing the envelope with the best designs and materials and to implement useful protection into all of our helmets regardless of their intended use or price-point.

You crash it. We replace it. It’s that simple.

We don’t do this as a marketing stunt or because we have lost our minds.

We do this because what we learn from crashed helmets informs everything we do. We have you return your crashed helmets so we can take them back into our lab to cut them open, measure them, and dissect them. We then use the information we gather from the unlucky few who test our helmets in ways we cannot recreate to build the next generation of Kali helmets. Of course, we prefer you never have to use the Lifetime Crash Replacement policy and suggest you replace your Kali helmets at respectable intervals. Let us reiterate once again, please leave the testing to us.

WHY KALI?

At Kali we have one priority above all - we want anything we manufacture to be as safe as possible. Where advancements in helmet safety can be made, we make them. This has been the precedent from day one. Innovation was the foundation behind Kali’s inception. Our core technology, Composite Fusion™, was the result of over 3 years of R&D and tooling, well before we even produced our first helmet. STANDARD

CPSC and CE helmet standards were established to set a baseline of protection to help you survive an impact. They do not address the risk of concussions.

300 G THRESHOLD

Current helmet testing standards require that a helmet transfer less than 300 g’s of linear g-forces to the head.

There is no industry standard for testing or protecting against rotational g-forces.

MIND THE GAP

Note the air gap between the shell and the inner EPS foam in a traditional helmet - that’s what creates the grey double impact curve seen on the graph. The air gap has been proven to add to head trauma in a crash.

Testing shows that as little as 74 g’s of linear force to the head can cause a knockout to occur, and even less force is needed when rotational acceleration is applied as well.

AIR GAP

Current helmet safety standards are based on tests conducted over fifty years ago, well before our current knowledge of concussive, subconcussive and rotational impacts. To pass these standards, helmets constructed using traditional methods utilize hard shells and very stiff foam, compromising their ability to perform at low to medium speed impacts.

Composite Fusion™ eliminates the gap, putting softer and more efficient material next to your head - exactly where you need it.

Kali Protectives offers the purchaser of a Kali cycle helmet a limited lifetime crash replacement warranty. If you have damaged your Kali helmet in a crash, you may file a claim to receive a replacement helmet. You will be required to return your helmet to the place of purchase or directly to Oxford Products. In the event of a claim, this service is subject to a £15 admin fee.

2. Avoid crashing! In the event of a crash, check yourself then see step 3

3. If your helmet is damaged, return to your dealer with the helmet or contact Oxford Products directly to submit a claim

4. The helmet has to be returned to Oxford Products for inspection.

5. If a claim is approved we will supply a replacement, either delivered direct or to your dealer

This warranty is limited to the original helmet purchased.
