Artistic name: Rima Djahnine Country and city: Bejaia, Algeria Main discipline: Video artist Biography: Was born in 1979 in Béjaïa, Algeria, and works between Marseille and Algiers. In 1998 Rima leaves her hometown to live in France after brutal family events. Following studies at the University of Paris and while earning her living from taking private lessons in drawing and painting, she discovered art expression and decided she would become a pictorial producer. In 2004, her entourage organizes her first private exhibition in Montreuil. This is where she sold her first paintings &, overwhelmed by the acknowledgement of her artistic status. Other exhibitions will then follow. In 2006, she decided to undertake a four-year graphic art studies, & upon graduating in 2009, she began to explore working on photography & video. Rima returned to active life in the field of graphics while continuing to reflect on her approach to plastic arts. Since 2013, she lives in Algeria, after receiving a grant from the Arabic Fund for Art & Culture

Biographie: Graphiste de formation et plasticienne, Rima Djahnine est née en 1979 à Béjaïa en Algérie. Aujourd’hui elle partage sa vie professionnelle entre Marseille et Alger. En 1998 Rima quitte précipitamment sa ville natale après le décès brutal de ses parents. Après une tentative de suivre des études universitaires à Paris, la peinture s’est imposée à elle, elle ne la quittera plus, elle décide tout en gagnant sa vie de prendre des cours privés de dessin et de peinture, ainsi une production picturale est née. En 2004, son entourage lui organise sa première exposition privée à Montreuil. C’est là qu’elle vend ses premières toiles, l’accueil était bouleversant. D’autres expo vont suivre. En 2006 elle décide d’entamer des études en art graphique, elle entame un cursus de 4 ans. À l’obtention de son diplôme en 2009, elle explore de nouveaux médiums tel que la photographie et la vidéo. Rima rentre dans la vie active dans le domaine du graphisme tout en continuant à réfléchir sa démarche plastique. En 2013 elle décide de rentrer en Algérie après avoir décroché une bourse de création du Fond Arabe pour l’Art et la Culture (AFAC) basé au Liban. Ce soutien financier lui permet de concrétiser son projet plastique qui s’intitule « Le Choc, le temps suspendu » qu’elle a écrit en 2010 et qu’elle n’a cessé de développer depuis. Ce projet sera exposé en 2016/2017.
