To continue talk about life off the court, I asked what life after Professional Volleyball may look like for her: “The elements of my life will stay the same but will just have different contexts -- Family, volleyball, fitness, travel, charity work, etc. I am making a big push to develop my brand and spread the awareness in the next years. I aim to help my sport grow in scope and prestige for both the beach and indoor disciplines. My dream is for the AVP Tour to be HUGE and for our country and the world to embrace and support the sport every year, not just every four years with the Olympics. I have some truly amazing sponsors (Asics, Wilson, Oakley) who take up a large space in the volleyball world and I hope to help their growth efforts and hope to partner with them on our Academy that we will create in the upcoming years. We want to give back, because we can and because we’ve been given so much! The thought of our own Academy, which focuses on helping people to get the best out of themselves and their lives. It’s a beautiful goal of ours.” Always a curious one about the origins of a nickname, I couldn’t help but ask where her nickname “Six-Feet of Sunshine” comes from: “Casey called me “Sunshine” when we first started dating and he addressed me as “SixFeet of Sunshine” when he’d write me letters. The day he asked me to marry him, the first thing I noticed on the gold band with which he proposed, was the inscription “Six-Feet of Sunshine”. “He’s the cutest. Always has been, always will be.” With a nickname like that it’s no wonder she shines so bright when talking about her loved ones and those who have played instrumental roles in helping her to achieve such greatness.
