“Seismic processing and our ability to see and understand geology is better than ever. The geology in the US Gulf of Mexico is unique, there’s no place like it on earth. The region is analogous to what you see in the Dead Sea in the Middle East, or the Great Salt Lake in Utah (US); water that is disconnected from the oceans that instead flows in from rivers forming a salt-saturated inland sea containing thousands of feet of salt and sediment. Only recently has seismic processing improved to the point where we can process sound waves, see beneath the salt layers and look at oil trapped beneath. Seismic processing is the most significant enabling technology of our time at the moment.” 86 | North America Outlook issue 10
“A few of the top technology trends in manufacturing include automation, connected factories, smart manufacturing and smart supply chains – think Industry 4.0. Any of these could be viewed as transforming the industry. For Pactiv Evergreen specifically, we are investing in digital transformation as one of our key strategic priorities. A recent example of this investment is the increased use of automation during the COVID-19 pandemic. As technology advanced and hiring became more challenging, automation and autonomous trends helped to maintain productivity, safety, and quality, while also upskilling the workers who used that technology.”
“The proliferation of bifacial panels, of which Genie’s Prism subsidiary is the world’s foremost expert, is changing the industry. The additional energy output improves the economics of solar and the twosided glass design allows for light to go through the panel. The design’s aesthetic advantage increases adoption. It also unlocks certain farmland as compatible with solar without impeding on the growth of underlying crops.”
