Monday Evenings from 6 to 7:30 PM @ the Climbing Wall Attention all female identifying climbers! The Keeping Women Wild club will be hosting climbing nights every Monday for those who seek a testosterone free zone. All levels and abilities are welcome. No sign-up is necessary - just show up and have some fun! Cost: Free! Wednesday Evenings from 5:30 to 6:30 PM @ the Climbing Wall Take your climbing to the next level by learning how to lead climb. The OP instructor crew will be hosting weekly clinics on lead climbing, covering everything from proper clipping technique to leader belay techniques. No sign-up is necessary - just show up! Cost: Free!

Ski/Snowboard Tuning Clinic

Wednesday, February 7 from 5:30 to 7:30 PM Come learn how to tune your skis/snowboard in the OP Bike & Ski Shop. We will wax; tune edges; and learn how to apply P-tex for basic base repairs. No sign-up is necessary - just show up! Cost: Free! Includes instruction and repair supplies.

No Man’s Land Film Festival

Wednesday, March 27 @ 7 PM (Vallecito Room) As part of Women’s History Month, OP will once again be hosting a screening of the No Man’s Land Film Festival--a celebration of women through adventure and sport. This is always an entertaining and inspiring evening so make sure you get a ticket from OP as early as possible. Cost: Free for current FLC Students - Public: $15. All proceeds to go to SOLES - a local organization providing opportunities for girls to get outside. Contact OP @ 970-247-7293 for more information or to reserve tickets.

Learn to Snowboard or Ski - Sat., Jan. 20 & Sat., Feb. 3

Ever wanted to learn how to shred the ski slopes on a snowboard or skis? Outdoor Pursuits will host two introductory clinics in each of these amazing snow disciplines. Just sign up for whatever one you want to learn. Sign-up begins online @ 9 PM the Sunday prior to the clinic (Jan. 14 & Jan. 28). Cost: $20. Includes equipment, instruction & lift ticket.

Learn to Cross Country Ski - Sun., Jan. 21

Come learn how to cross-country ski as we venture to a local Nordic center for a day of instruction and fun on these skinny skis. This will be a great day out! Sign-up begins online on Sunday, January 14 @ 9 PM. Cost: $10. Includes transportation, instruction, & equipment.

Intro to Park Skiing (A Boxes & Rails How To) - Sat., Jan. 27

Come learn the ways of park skiing as the OP instructor crew breaks down the skills needed to slide on rails and land box jumps. This clinic is for those who already know how to ski, but want to take their skiing to the next level. Sign-up begins online on Sunday, January 21 @ 9 PM. Cost: $20. Includes instruction, equipment & lift ticket.

For those heading into the backcountry during winter, preparation is the key to staying safe. Join OP for a 1-day clinic focusing on the necessary skills to execute an efficient avalanche rescue. Intro to Backcountry Skiing & Riding - Sun., Jan. 28

Let OP introduce you to backcountry skiing/riding in the beautiful San Juan’s. We will cover such topics as the use of skins, how to lay a skin track, and safe route/line selection. We will be skiing/riding advanced-beginner through intermediate terrain—not steep, avalanche prone slopes. Sign up begins online on Sunday, January 21 @ 9 PM. Cost: $15. Includes transportation, instruction & equipment. **Participants must be an intermediate or above skier/rider**

AIARE REC Level 1 Avalanche Course - Hut Based Wed., Jan. 31 (evening), Fri., Feb. 2 to Sun., Feb. 4 In this extensive course, we will learn the essentials of avalanche science and how to stay safe while enjoying winter in the backcountry. Participants completing this course will receive an AIARE Avalanche Rec Level 1 certificate of completion. Sign-up begins online on Sunday, January 21 @ 9 PM. Cost: $350. Includes course materials, instruction, lodging, food, transportation & equipment. **Participants must be an intermediate or above skier/rider**

Snowshoe Adventure - Sun., Feb. 4

Explore the deep winter landscape as OP heads to the mountains for a relaxed and peaceful snowy adventure. Sign-up begins online on Sunday, January 28 @ 9 PM. Cost: $10. Includes transportation & equipment.

Ice Skating in Silverton - Sat., Feb. 10

Are you an experienced ice skater or just want to try something new? Join OP for a day of ice skating in the winter wonderland of Silverton, CO. We will depart campus mid-morning for Silverton’s outdoor ice rink. After spending some time skating across the frozen water while enjoying hot chocolate and the incredible mountain views, we will return to campus by late afternoon. All abilities and levels are welcome. Sign-up begins online on Sunday, February 4 @ 9 PM. Cost: $20. Includes transportation, equipment & instruction.


MINI BREAK Moab National Park Tour - Fri., Feb. 16 to Sun., Feb. 18

Take a break from winter with OP as we head to warmer climates for three days of visiting the famed national parks of Arches and Canyonlands. This will be a relaxed and memorable trip into an area rich in natural beauty. Sign-up begins online on Sunday, February 4 @ 9 PM. Cost: $45. Includes food, camping, transportation, equipment & permit.

Ice Climbing - Thur., Feb. 15 to Sun., Feb. 18

OP is heading to the ice park in Lake City, CO for the weekend. This trip is for all abilities as we will climb frozen water falls during the day and sleep warm and cozy indoors at night. Sign-up begins online on Sunday, February 4 @ 9 PM. Cost: $45. Includes transportation, lodging, food, instruction & equipment.

Denim Disco Daze @ the Climbing Wall—A Bouldering Comp - Thur., Feb. 22 from 6 to 9 PM

Break out your denim, practice your best disco moves, and make your way down to the climbing wall for some epic bouldering. OP’s annual winter bouldering competition is open to all levels and abilities with plenty of great prizes to go around. Cost: Free!

Full Moon Snowshoe Adventure - Sat., Feb. 24

Explore the deep winter landscape under the light of a full moon as OP heads to the mountains for a relaxed and peaceful snowy adventure. Sign-up begins online on Sunday, February 18 @ 9 PM. Cost: $10. Includes transportation & equipment.

Guided Backcountry Ski/Ride Day - Sat., Feb. 25

Tired of skiing/riding the same old familiar runs? Then come spend the day with OP as we seek out new terrain and show you some powder stashes that are worth leaving the old behind. The ability to ski/ride powder is required. Sign up begins online on Sunday, February 18 @ 9 PM. Cost: $15. Includes transportation & equipment. **Participants must be an intermediate or above skier/rider**

Learn to Skate Ski - Sat., Mar. 2

Come learn how to skate across a groomed track while on skis. This instructional clinic will be informative and get the heart going. All levels and abilities are welcome! Sign-up begins online on Sunday, February 25 @ 9 PM. Cost: $10. Includes transportation, instruction & equipment.

Backcountry Skiing/Riding Hut Trip - Fri., Mar. 8 to Sun., Mar. 10

Experienced skiers and riders are invited on this amazing hut trip in the San Juan Mountain Range. Departing on Friday afternoon we will head to our base camp hut for the weekend. From there we will access an abundance of backcountry ski terrain as we shred the slopes during the day and sleep warm and cozy at night. Sign-up begins online on Sunday, March 3 @ 9 PM. Cost: $45. Includes 2-nights lodging, food, transportation & equipment. **Instructor permission is required prior to signing up for the trip.**


SPRING BREAK Surf Camp - South Padre, TX - Sat., Mar. 16 to Sat., Mar. 23

OP is going to learn to surf! Spend your spring break at South Padre, TX. With great instructors, beginner waves, and close to the beach camping, this will be a spring break to remember. Trip sign up begins online on Sunday, February 4 @ 9 PM. Cost: $475. Includes transportation, food, equipment, instruction & camping.

Backcountry Skiing/Riding - Mt. Baker, WA - Fri., Mar. 15 to Sun., Mar. 24

Attention all powder skiers! Join us as we look to extend winter in the Pacific Northwest. Leaving the sunny confines of Durango, we will head to snowy Mt. Baker (which averages 731 inches of snow per year), a volcano located in the north Cascades. While there, we will ski deep powder during the day and sleep warm and cozy in a lodge each night. Sign-up begins online on Sunday, February 4 @ 9 PM. Cost: $550. Includes transportation, food, lodging, and ski guiding. **Instructor permission is required prior to signing up for the trip**

Wilderness First Responder Course - Sat., Mar. 16 to Sun., Mar. 24

Be prepared for the worst the next time you venture into the backcountry by learning professional medical skills from one of the most respected organizations in wilderness medicine. The Wilderness Medicine Institute of NOLS will teach you how to handle everything from a sprained ankle to anaphylactic shock. Cost: $750 for OP Members/$850 for non-Members. Register via OP’s online registration system.

SPRING PROGRAMMING A Trail Running Weekend - Fri., Apr. 5 to Sun., Apr. 7

Are you an avid trail runner? Join OP for a weekend of running in the desert. Utilizing a basecamp, we will do six to twelve-mile run/hikes each day exploring the wonders of the terrain as we move through it. This trip is for those who have previous running experience. Sign-up begins online on Sunday, March 31 @ 9 PM. Cost: $40. Includes food, transportation, equipment, and permits.

Intro to Bike Packing Weekend - Fri., Apr. 5 to Sun., Apr. 7

Attention all mountain bikers! Spend the weekend with OP as we learn how to load up mountain bikes with all the gear we need to live outside for the weekend. This is an introductory level trip for those who have previous mountain bike experience. The number of miles biked will be low, but the number of smiles will be high. Sign-up begins online on Sunday, March 31 @ 9 PM. Cost: $40. Includes food, transportation, equipment, and permits.

Bears Ears National Monument - Service Project Wknd - Fri., Apr. 12 to Sun., Apr. 14

OP will be working with the Wildlands Conservancy to complete a service project for a new property that accesses the wonders of Bears Ears National Monument. We will leave campus Friday for our basecamp and then complete a service project on Saturday along with some visits to amazing cultural sites. After breaking down camp on Sunday, we will do a short hike before returning to campus. This will be a great trip before the final push to end the semester. Sign-up begins online on Sunday, April 7 @ 9 PM. Cost: $15. Includes transportation, food, camping & equipment.


Rock Climbing 101 - Sat., Apr. 13 Whether you are a never-have-I-ever or a total gym rat that has never ventured out on acutal rock, this single day clinic will introduce you to the basics of rock climbing outside. All levels and abilities are welcome. Sign-up begins online on Sunday, April 7 @ 9 PM. Cost: $10. Includes equipment, instruction & transportation.
