Nau mai haere mai Hello to fresh faces, and welcome back to our returnees as we start the 2022 university year. Affectionately known as “Clubs and Socs”, we’ve always been more than a place and space. Our building is iconic on Albany St, and we are proud to be an essential part of your OUSA family. Entwined within your community, we allow diverse groups of people to meet, connect, and build lasting friendships. For us, it’s always been an honour to facilitate those meaningful experiences and curate relationships through our offerings. Of late, however, we’ve reflected on our privilege to do so and the true impact of what we do. COVID and ongoing building construction have certainly thrown some spanners in the works. We’ve planned and unplanned, opened and re-opened, reinvented, re-envisioned and renewed. To our patrons and staff we give thanks for your resilience, patience and agility. This is a testament to the amazing people you are.

It’s with optimism then that we welcome in the new year, a year not as we would have imagined but one we will tackle together as we’ve done before. This booklet showcases all we have on offer, so take a read and sign on up. Please note the Covid page at the end, which will give some guidance in different settings as the months unfold. Keep joining clubs. Keep doing recreational activities. Keep visiting! Mostly, keep finding your next obsession. Stay well, stay safe and remember to look out for each other. Your Clubs and Socs Team #comeplayousa

Room bookings are generally free of charge for Otago University/Polytechnic students and staff (off-peak only) on presentation of a valid ID. This is on the pretence of personal use or in connection to affiliated club operations. These bookings are restricted to 1 booking, per day for up to 2 hours and can be booked up to two weeks in advance. *Additional conditions may apply to specific spaces. Regular bookings are reserved for OUSA affiliated Clubs and Societies and our Recreation Programme. There is a charge for nonstudents, commercial and noncommercial entities, including university departments. Charges also apply to students or staff who are “on-charging” in any capacity, e.g. tutoring, door fee, ticket sales or otherwise. We are non-forprofit with all charges going towards the significant costs of operating and maintaining our facility. + More Clubs and Socs plays an intrinsic role in the life of our tertiary community. More than a place and space Clubs and Socs gives opportunity for diverse groups of people and groups to meet, connect and recreate. With that said, there is always something going on at Clubs and Socs. You can expect additional events and services outside of what’s been prescribed in this booklet. To see what’s going on in real time tune into our social channels, have a yarn with reception or check out our noticeboard in the foyer. @ousaclubsandsocs

Covid The OUSA Clubs and Societies Centre continues to follow government guidelines under the COVID Protection Framework. Compliance and the wellbeing of our staff and you, our patrons, remain a priority. For these reasons, entry into the Clubs and Societies Centre is conditional on wearing a mask, scanning in with the NZ Covid Tracer App and showing a valid vaccine pass. Please do not enter the building if you are unwell and keep your distance from others inside. Outside of these controls operations remain all but “normal” for levels green and orange. With red we endeavour to keep our doors open as long as possible, where it’s safe and feasible to do so. We will have a cap of 100 people in our facility which excludes staff. To manage this, we will close de-prioritised areas, set caps on available rooms and have designated times for designated services and groups. For more detailed and updated information head to bit.ly/clubsandsocsinfo

Construction We are upgrading, please bear with us! The OUSA Clubs and Societies Centre has forecasted significant interior and exterior works. These works prioritize customer safety and experience going forward. However while getting done, it’s expected there will be effects to our services, including access to spaces. Phase 1 of these works (about 10% of the project) is complete. Phase 2 is being re-assessed in light of NZ’s position with COVID. For the latest information on our construction works head to bit.ly/ousaconstruction
