Poker Face
The 4th annual Jeff Conine Celebrity Poker Classic raised more than $100,000 for the Conine Clubhouse at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital. The fundraiser helps underwrite expenses at the hotel-like facility where families can stay free of charge while a child is hospitalized.
Music Appreciation
Nearly 200 Weston residents enjoyed the Symphony of the Americas’ Summerfest Concert at Temple Dor Dorim which featured the Arpeggione Chamber Orchestra. The concert was preceded by a delicious dessert reception and piano performance by Jose Pablo Veliz, a 2015 recipient of the Weston Philharmonic Society scholarship.

Be Prepared
Weston firefighters, paramedics, and EMT’s are prepared should they be called to treat a patient on flakka. A recent training program covered how to identify patients who may be on the dangerous drug, including advanced life support measures as well as techniques to safely transport patients. Flakka usage is on the rise in Broward County, with two reported cases in Weston so far this year.
