From Tokyo to Broward – Otoro Asian Kitchen Opens in Plantation By Terry Jaillet

S

oon, you won’t have to drive all the way to Miami to enjoy the best Sushi in South Florida. In fact, you will be able to enjoy a wonderful, fine-dining experience with the freshest fish and tastiest creations right in the heart of Broward County. Renowned Executive Chef Jimmy-San is joining his son-in-law, Chef Choum-San, to launch Otoro Sushi & Asian Kitchen located at The Shops at One Plantation on University Drive. The restaurant will open this month, just in time for the holidays. Its menu features exotic creations that Chef Jimmy-San has developed during his 30+ year culinary career. They will also include classic Asian cuisine dishes. Chef Jimmy-San began his culinary career in Atlanta during the 1990s. He quickly moved up the culinary ladder becoming the Executive Chef at some of Atlanta’s most renowned restaurants, including popular hot spots Twist and Prime. During that time he perfected his modern approach to the ancient Japanese art of sushi. Chef Jimmy-San will be joined at Otoro by his son-in-law, Chef Choum-San. Chef Choum-San began his training under Jimmy-San 12 years ago. He has a passion for integrating eons-old traditional sushi techniques into modern cuisine. The father-son team will offer one-of-a-kind creations to diners. As soon as you step foot in the restaurant, your eyes will be drawn to an impressive, back-lit mountain landscape on the back wall of the main room. Between the beautiful,
