Burnell Lawrence Jones, Sr. was born February 18, 1933 in New Orleans, LA. He was the second son born to Emmitt Jones and Marie Thomas Leagea .
A native son of New Orleans, LA. He was educated in and graduated from the Orleans Parish School System and then enlisted in the United States Army. Burnell confessed his life to Christ at an early age and was baptized at True Vine Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Lockett. He was a faithful member and dutiful servant of Second Mount Olive Baptist Church.

Jones; his children, Jacquelyn Robinson (Andre), Burnell Jones, Jr. (Janet) of Houston, Texas, Karl Jones (Linda) of Houston Texas, Terese Jones of Atlanta Georgia, Bibiana Johnson (Raymond), Samuel Gordon (Mary) of Denver, Colorado and Tara Jones; his sibling, LeRoyal Jones of Los Angeles, California; sister-in-laws, Linda Fitch (Glen), Nona Brown (Donnie), Ada Duplessis (Merlin, Jr.) Deborah Flores, Claudia Cole (Steven), Mona Johnson (Wayne); brother-in-law, Hugh Flores, Jr. (Dealva); grandchildren, Dale Jones, Jasmine Smith, Tarnara Carr (Kory), Edmond Collins III, Anchka, Ariel, Samuel, Jr., and Savion Gordon; seven greatgrandchildren; one great great-grandchild; his devoted niece Cecile Dalton (Charles); oldest cousin George Martin, Sr., two longtime devoted friends Lawrence Moore and Clarence Mitchell; and a host of godchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
He served as Vice President of the Usher board, Trustee, and Church Care Keeper faithfully until his health failed. He was the recipient of the Willing Worker award in 2015. He was one of the founders and treasurer of Seal’s Class Act Outreach Social Aide and Pleasure Club and he was the president of the Old Timers Pool Team League.

Burnell was a devote husband, loving father, dear son, faithful sibling and friend. He will be missed by all who knew him and had the pleasure to be in his life.
