Broomfield Gives Month
Broomfield Community Foundation Seasonal Drive Multiplies Community Impact
By Megan Mayes
The month of November is traditionally a time for giving thanks and reflecting on all of our good fortune throughout the year. When reflecting on the past year or so, we might also think of the hardships we have faced as individuals and as a community. As we prepare to sit around Thanksgiving tables filled to the edges with food, family, and friends, many people in our community are still struggling to meet their most basic needs. Broomfield is a community known for helping our neighbors, and the Broomfield Community Foundation is furthering this effort through Broomfield Gives Month. While taking the time to be thankful for the good in your own life, you can also be supporting local non-profits that are helping our neighbors thrive.
Marianna Williamson, the Executive Director for the Broomfield Community Foundation, said “Тhis is a great opportunity to get involved with Broomfield philanthropy. A donation to the Broomfield Community Foundation truly creates a stronger and more vibrant community for us all.” The foundation supports the community by distributing grants to a wide variety of organizations, services, and businesses. These groups include arts, civic support, disaster relief, education, human service, scholarships, senior resources, and small businesses. Despite the hardships of 2020, and thanks to the support and generosity of the Broomfield community, the foundation was able to give back $418,406 in total grants last year.
When you give back through the Broomfield Community Foundation and Broomfield Gives Month, they help you give more. This year, a group of Community Champions made up of local businesses and individuals has promised to collectively match up to $25,000 in donations raised through the Broomfield Gives Month initiative. So, when you donate $10 in the month of November, the Broomfield Community Foundation receives $20 and their community support power doubles. The Community Champions for Broomfield Gives Month 2021 are Sill-TerHar Motors; My Doula LLC, Newborn Care Specialist; Amazon, Inc.; Bill and Jean Markel; and an anonymous donor.
These Community Champions are encouraging individuals, families, and businesses to donate by November 30 to have your donation doubled and maximize its effect. Marianna said, “In this season of giving please join your neighbors in supporting the causes that are closest to your heart by joining our Broomfield Gives campaign through iGive 365, unrestricted donations, or a gift in honor of a loved one.” The iGive 365 program is a commitment to give $1 for every day of the year, creating a larger network of donors who are making Broomfield stronger together. This is a great option for people interested in philanthropy and wanting to make a significant impact on our community.
As of September 30, the grants this year have totaled $250,000. Every donation in November, and through the end of the year, will help the foundation reach and hopefully exceed the total grants from 2020. As you gather with friends and family to celebrate this holiday season, we hope gratitude and generosity continue to fill your hearts and you consider donating to the Broomfield Gives Month campaign.
