Make your holiday season merry and bright by partaking in Holiday Cheer events with your friends and neighbors in Broomfield!

The City and County of Broomfield is putting on events for people of all ages throughout December. Learn how to join in the fun and give back to your community this holiday season at Broomfield.org/HolidayCheer.

Bundle up and grab hot cocoa to ring in the holiday season at the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony! Be part of this community event on Friday, December 1 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. where all of Broomfield welcomes the arrival of Santa Claus at the George Di Ciero City and County Building. The air will be filled with children caroling from local schools as the Mayor lights the community holiday tree.

Looking for a way to practice creativity with other festive members of the Broomfield community? Broomfield’s makerspace, inventHQ, is hosting events throughout December. Wednesday, December 6 is Crafty Night Out: Etched Bottle Lanterns. This 21+ event teaches participants about glass etching on a bottle to make your own customized lantern. Bottles will be provided, or bring your own to decorate. If you’re ages 12 and up, try your hand at Sew Broomfield’s Embroidered Wool Ornaments workshop on Saturday, December 9 to make a stuffed wool ornament for the holidays! Supplies for these events may be limited to the first participants so register and arrive on time!

If you have a little one you’re looking to entertain with a classic tradition, check out Polar Express Storytime at the Broomfield Depot Museum Saturday, December 9. Readings of the classic book, “The Polar Express,” happen at different times throughout the day and guests are invited to wear their favorite pajamas or fun holiday outfits. Choose a storytime and then stay for additional activities following the story!

You don’t want to miss the Lakeshore Holiday Lunch Friday, December 15 at noon at the Broomfield Community Center. Celebrate the season with a delicious meal of ham, sweet potato casserole, green beans, roasted carrots, cranberry and almond green salad, and holiday cheesecake while enjoying the free entertainment! Pre-registration is required.

Celebrate winter with book recommendations, live music, and a gift wrapping station at the Broomfield Library! Bring wrapping paper from home to trade with community members for uniquely packaged items. Stop by the Eisenhower Room Saturday, December 16 at any time between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. to enjoy light refreshments, music, and see what books library staff are recommending as gifts this year!

Want to join an interactive musical experience at a familyfriendly event? Kindermusik’s Holiday Playdate Thursday, December 21 at 10:15 a.m. at the Broomfield Community Center is the perfect opportunity to see what Kindermusik is all about. Enjoy interactive holiday classic tunes and take home a holiday album and instrument to enjoy!
