FRIENDS of Broomfield Invites Community to Luncheon and Fashion Show
By Kristen Beckman
This summer, FRIENDS of Broomfield will host its annual luncheon and fashion show featuring men and women with intellectual and developmental disabilities showing off the latest styles. The event, which is held in conjunction with National Friendship Day, will take place July 30 at the Chateaux at Fox Meadows and feature lunch, mimosas, and a presentation.

As usual, the fashion show will feature styles from fashion sponsors Dillards, MAC Cosmetics, and Vera Bradley. Male models joined the 2022 GirlFRIENDS event for the first time and have now become a staple. Participants from Lil’FRIENDs will also join the runway to create a show filled with diverse models. FRIENDS hopes to surpass last year’s 180 guests.
To prepare, the models will spend an afternoon picking out the outfits they want to strut on the runway.
FRIENDS hopes to raise $50,000 through the event to support its programs including Day, Residential, Supported Employment, and Social and Travel programs.
Members of the community are invited to support FRIENDS by purchasing tickets to the event, sponsoring the event, or making a direct donation. Tickets can be purchased online at the organization’s website friendsofbroomfield.org. Sponsorship opportunities are also available.
Sponsors of this year’s event include Blue Federal Credit Union, Our Broomfield Magazine, Viega LLC, FS Wealth Management, Front Range Roofing Systems LLC, Ramos Law, Source Communications, Broomfield Lifestyle, Centerpoint Insurance Group and Bertagnolli Dental.
The theme of this year’s event is De’file’ de Mode des Amis (Friends Fashion Show).
“I love the Luncheon & Fashion Show because I get to dress up in a pretty outfit and impress the crowd as I walk the runway,” said Christina, a FRIENDS participant and fashion show model. This event is one of several that FRIENDS of Broomfield relies on each year to supplement the costs of its programs. FRIENDS has been working hard this year to raise funds to purchase a new bus that will accommodate its transportation needs. Accessible transportation allows FRIENDS to connect participants with intellectual and developmental disabilities to the community and create an inclusive environment for all.
This spring, FRIENDS hosted its annual Topgolf Tournament with a fundraising goal of $45,000 through a special transportation appeal. Proceeds will be matched by an anonymous donor. A new bus is expected to cost at least $90,000.
On July 8th, the FRIENDS Young Professional Board is hosting a Beer Pong Tournament to raise funds for the organization’s programs as well. The single-elimination tournament will be held at Jackson’s in Denver across from Coors Field.
FRIENDS also hosts an annual variety show in October along with FRIENDSgiving – an event featuring thankfulness-themed individual campaigns hosted by friends and families.
