Our Big Green

Page 1

our big green quiet, open, green, blue, yellow space at the edge of town scoping this place out with cameras, pencils, clay, stones don’t get ink on ya new white trainers battling with the elements breathing in the air long way round, short way back; workin out the swing bridge timetable like it’s some kind of code to be broken unpredictable but staying familiar clouds, mud, ambushed by dogs no visit feels like the last these non-spaces mad-max like, luna landscapes reeds rattling and ducks hatching skies moving and grass flowing with all their wildness and emptiness they’re well important to us give us a chance to breathe a bit more and walk a bit more give us an excuse to chat about stuff and let stuff go too give us the space to process, experiment and try new stuff out together we’re trying to use em more see them in a different way see the value and impact they can have on us you know, nothin major so, you coming along next Tuesday?

the space feels totally alive and yet completely still all at once talking about joy, taking the mick, lugging round heavy tripods and heavy memories someone talks about how they once knew someone who used to make black and white photographs ‘feel like colour’ this is what were trying to do a bit of up here

big yellow sun over our big green space big cracked ground under foot, dry enough for us to get over to the big cracked boats S climbing through rusted gaps and shooting rolls of colour as the birds fly out of the wrecks

make shift easel-fence and stretching our own canvas out taking in the never-silent-nature of the wind and birds. “ah, the only things the politicians can’t change is the weather”

it takes real guts to come and meet a group of people outside maccies, treck down a main road to a nature reserve you’ve never been on and try out something new huge big up to the amazing people who were part of making all these incredible images, drawings, conversations and really fun mornings happen
