On behalf of my fellow Ouimet Fund Directors and the entire organization, I welcome you to the 70th Annual Banquet – which will be our first online Annual Banquet! This is a unique time for all of us and I thank our many sponsors who stuck with us to make this virtual event a reality! Much of 2020 will look different for all of us, but we are determined to ensure that scholarships in September for Ouimet Scholars remain meaningful and impactful. We can’t thank Ouimet Award honoree Tom Kite and emcee Dave Marr enough for their graciousness and flexibility throughout the planning, postponement and creativity this spring. We are so thankful for their efforts to coordinate an event that recognizes Tom’s outstanding career, creates a special scholarship in the name of Tom’s late wife Christy and will impact so many Ouimet Scholars this fall and for years to come. I started attending these dinners back in the 1970’s, when I was a student at UMass Amherst and a Ouimet Scholar. At the time, it was mainly the students and our supporting clubs. This dinner has grown to become one of the top golf dinners in the country, highlighted always by our keynote speaker and is now a major kickoff fundraiser for the Ouimet Fund. In addition to tonight’s sponsors, we are appreciative of the leadership, members and NEPGA professionals from our Bag Tag clubs; passionate Golf Marathon participants; generous annual donors; loyal Alumni; dedicated volunteers; and our most engaged and committed endowed scholarship creators. All of these programs become an important piece of the puzzle to help over 450 students afford college each fall. It begins when these kids have amazing summer golf jobs in high school, focus on their college academics and experience with less financial stress and then leverage the Ouimet network to take that next step in life with their career. We thank you for your passion to help over 6,000 young people succeed since the first class in 1949! Dick Connolly was a Ouimet Scholar attending Holy Cross in the 1960s and he has never forgotten what working in golf has meant to him and for so many others. As our Presenting Sponsor of this event and through the countless contributions from him and his wife, Ann Marie, he has been the MVP of our organization. The Richard F. Connolly, Jr. Award honors the spirit of Dick, and this year we are proud to recognize Mac Brawn of Andover Companies as the 2020 honoree. Mac is a true gentleman and generous supporter of Ouimet and the game of golf. We look forward to celebrating him more later this fall! To our longtime friends as well as our new friends joining us this evening, thank you for your generous commitment to a legacy that has helped change the trajectory of 6,000 young men and women since 1949! Sincerely, Jim Moriarty President 1

Thank You To Our Many Supporting Clubs Across the State The Ouimet Fund is thankful for our many supporting clubs across the state. Each year, the clubs are eager to respond to the growing need of our Scholars and support the Ouimet mission. At each club our Ouimet Chair Committees work with club staff to engage their fellow members and promote the scholarship opportunities to young people working in the game of golf. The club support adds up to 25,000 individual donors across the state who are all incredibly important to the success of our young people.

Tom Kite Tom Kite was born in McKinney, Texas to Tom, Sr. and Mauryene Kite, and learned a love of the game of golf from his father by the age of six. He soon became competitive in junior tournaments and had already entered the winners circle at the age of 11. When his family relocated to Austin, Texas, Tom began playing golf at the famed Austin Country Club, where he became a star pupil of the legendary golf coach and author Harvey Penick. Penick could see from a young age that Tom was special, not just because of his natural skill but because of his focus and internal drive to be great. Before he was even a teenager, Tom made it clear to his family that he intended on being a PGA Tour professional - and was willing to do whatever it took to achieve that goal. Tom went on to play for the University of Texas under the coaching tutelage of none other than Harvey Penick. From 1969 to 1972, Tom was a scholarship player for his state’s university and he more than earned it, as he was named Second-Team All-American in 1970 and 1971 and First-Team All-American in 1972, all while racking up nine collegiate tournament wins. The golf team at the time was a force to be reckoned with, as Tom was teammates with another Golf Hall of Famer, Ben Crenshaw. Together, the two friends led Texas to two national championships in 1971 and 1972, and shared co-medalist honors at the 1972 National Championship. 6

Tom didn’t waste any time making his mark on the PGA Tour as he was named Rookie of the Year in 1973, which would prove to be a harbinger of things to come, as Tom spent the majority of the 1970’s making cuts and finishing high in the money rankings. He secured his first Tour victory in 1976, but was never far from the top of the leaderboard in any tournament he entered. In the 1980’s, Tom was a force on the PGA Tour and earned his nickname: Mr. Consistency. Becoming known throughout golf as having the best wedge game in the world, Tom recorded 21 top-10 finishes in 1981, won the Vardon Trophy, and was by far the leader on the money list. From 1981 to 1987, Tom displayed incredible consistency as he was the only player on Tour to win an event in each year respectively, and in 1989 he was again the Tour’s leading money winner, with the highlight of the season being a memorable win at The Players Championship. Coinciding with his dominance on Tour in the 1980’s, Tom was a stalwart on the U.S. Ryder Cup team and was a playing member of the team from 1979 through to 1993. The U.S. team won five Ryder Cups during that span, and Kite famously holds the record for the largest singles victory in Ryder Cup history, beating Howard Clark 8&7 in a singles match in 1989. Soon after his Ryder Cup playing days were over, Tom received one of the ultimate honors in golf and was named the Captain of the 1997 Ryder Cup team. While the team lost by a narrow margin, the team spoke glowingly of Tom’s captainship and praised his use of analytics and data for strategy, a practice that was new at the time but is now commonplace. While Tom is perhaps best remembered for his legendary victory at Pebble Beach in 1992, his golfing career was filled with remarkable achievements. He won 19 PGA Tour events, received the famous Bob Jones Award in 1979, earned the Vardon Trophy in both 1981 and 1982, was named PGA of America Player of the Year in 1989, and has the unique distinction of being the first in Tour history to reach $6 million, $7 million, $8 million, and $9 million in career earnings. When Tom retired from PGA Tour competition, he certainly did not retire from competitive golf – he simply changed the venue in which he strikes fear into his fellow players. Tom is a regular on the PGA Tour Champions, where he has ten career victories including one senior major, The Countrywide Tradition. His solid play made him a regular in the Schwab Cup points rankings, and he 7

remains in the top-10 in all time points earned on the PGA Tour Champions. Tom was consistently dominant on the course during this two-decade stretch, but he remained a committed family man who was sure to put his family first. In 1975, Tom met his wife, Christy, at the Desert Inn Country Club and they were married later that year. The two welcomed three children during the 1980’s, Stephanie, David and Paul, and the family traveled with Tom as much as they could during his incredible run of consistent success. Sadly, Christy passed away in 2015 after a battle with cancer, but is remembered as an incredible mother and supportive wife who was as important to Tom’s success on course as any other factor in his life. Tom has remained a busy man both on and off the course, as he is a proud father and grandfather who deeply enjoys spending time with his family. Along with that, he added golf course designer to his resume and has completed some of the finest courses in the country, perhaps most famously Liberty National Golf Club, which regularly hosts PGA Tour events, and welcomed the 2017 Presidents Cup tournament. We are deeply honored to add Tom Kite to the list of recipients of the Francis Ouimet Award for Lifelong Contributions to Golf. Congratulations, Tom!

Christy Kite Family Trust Scholarship Christy Kite was married to Tom just short of 40 years until passing away after a lengthy battle with cancer in 2015. A golfer while at Arizona State University, she became a middle school math and science teacher after graduation. A couple of years later, Christy and Tom met playing on a golf course, and she soon became an integral part of Tom’s success. They traveled on Tour, first just the two of them, then with their young children. Creating somewhat of a normal family atmosphere while traveling and on the road constantly was one of Christy’s strongest assets. When Stephanie and twin sons, David and Paul, began school and the family was not able to attend as many golf tournaments, Christy became a proud and dedicated at-home Mom where she supported the kids as much as she did Tom. She also enjoyed cooking, knitting, and spending time with good friends, but her two main loves were her family and traveling on Tour. She truly was one of the “best Tour wives” ever. 8

Masters of ceremonies DAVID MARR, III The Ouimet Fund welcomes back Dave Marr, III as the evening’s MC. Mr. Marr, who currently hosts his own show, Mornings With Marr on SiriusXM PGA Tour Radio, will be here for the fourth time. Mr. Marr is a well-known figure in the golf industry, working for many years with the Golf Channel as tower announcer, interviewer and play-by-play host for their coverage of the PGA TOUR Champions. He also hosted PGA TOUR Champions Learning Center, a weekly game improvement show featuring a variety of PGA TOUR Champions players. A New York City native, Marr is a graduate of Bucknell University and is the son of 1965 PGA Champion, 1981 Ryder Cup Captain and long-time ABC-TV golf commentator Dave Marr.

Ouimet Student Speaker JEROME SULLIVAN Congratulations to Jerome Sullivan for being selected as this year’s Ouimet Annual Banquet Student Speaker! Jerome is completing his Junior year at Providence College, a school he has dreamed of attending from a young age. He has worked in many capacities at Marshfield Country Club since he was eleven, and can remember putting money aside from as early as his first caddy loops to help pay for college. Jerome, the sixth of seven children raised by a single mother in Marshfield, credits his family, the members and staff of Marshfield Country Club, and the Ouimet Scholarship for making his dream of attending Providence College a reality. Jerome looks forward to a career in finance and staying involved with the game of golf when he completes his degree next year. Congratulations, Jerome! 9

Richard F. Connolly, Jr. Award for Distinguished Service The annual Richard F. Connolly, Jr. Distinguished Service Award was established in 2000 in honor of Mr. Connolly, a Ouimet Scholarship Alumnus, Director, Trustee and former President who has proudly served the Ouimet Fund for over 40 years. Mr. Connolly is the embodiment of everything a Ouimet volunteer can be. For 40 years he has served as Chairman of the Francis Ouimet Memorial Tournament. He has also underwritten the production of the Richard F. Connolly, Sr. Trophy, the Ouimet Memorial’s permanent trophy that is one of the most unique in golf. Mr. Connolly has been the driving force in starting the Francis Ouimet Award for Lifelong Contributions to Golf Annual Banquets, and has personally been their principal sponsor every year. He has also established an endowed Ouimet Scholarship in his family’s name and helped The Fund in many other ways. Mr. Connolly was honored with the Ouimet Fund’s Spirit of Golf Award in 2008.

MAC BRAWN The Ouimet Fund is excited to honor Mac Brawn as the 2020 Connolly Award Winner. Since the inaugural Ouimet Banquet in 1997, Mac Brawn and Andover Companies have not missed a year as a major sponsor of the event. His support has been important to the growth of this event, which continues to make a financial impact on the education of young people working in golf. Originally born in Dexter, Maine, Mr. Brawn went on to attend Bowdoin College before serving as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. Upon completion of service, he went to work for The Andover Companies as an underwriter in 1964 and has been there ever since in many roles including his current position as Chairman & CEO. Mr. Brawn has ingrained golf in the culture of The Andover Companies, and it is his belief “You can learn a lot about a person on the golf course.” Mr. Brawn is particularly proud of this award, where the game of golf and the Ouimet Fund have been a big part of many of the personal and professional relationships he has developed. 10

We oer our sincere congratulations to the honorees: Tom Kite for receiving the Francis Ouimet Award for Lifelong Contributions to Golf; Malcolm Brawn for receiving the Richard F. Connolly, Jr. Award for Distinguished Service; and all of the deserving 2020 Ouimet Fund Scholars!
