Determining the Effect of Tie Back Seal Assemblies to Improve Collapse Resistance for Liner Hanger Extensions Team

Objective

Deliverable

Explore possible methods of calculating the collapse pressure of Oil Country Tubular Goods. Additionally, investigate factors such as length, eccentricity, temperature, and ovality and their effect on collapse pressure.

Critical Length Sponsor Liaison: Charles Meador

Team Members: Jonathon Gonzales Jason Lenamond Faculty Advisor: Andreas Slettehaugh Dr. Haider Hekiri Trenton Turner Keaton Whitaker

Ovality

Ovality has limited effect and is factored into the Tomano Equations

Code developed using Excel and is programmed to include the Tomano Equations, as well as previously known methods. This program allows designers to quickly test and consider different pipe profiles.

Eccentricity

Eccentricity has a significant effect on pipe collapse

• • •

Critical Length: 8x the outer diameter Longer section analyzed using Tomano Equations (2007) Shorter sections rely on the Lamé Equation

Temperature Derating

Temperature change has minimal effect

• After proof-reading by all group members and capstone instructor, e-mail the poster to Zahed Siddique zsiddique@ou.edu, Zachary Yokell zach511@ou.edu AND Rebeka Morales rmorales@ou.edu. We will proofread one last time before printing. The poster will be printed by AME Capstone Program. • Your faculty advisor and industry liaison should approve your poster BEFORE you send it to Zahed Siddique, Zachary Yokell and Rebeka Morales • Use a large font so the reader can view your poster from some distance. • For text, graphs, photos and anything else you don’t want cut off, keep at least a half-inch margin around the entire poster. If you want a picture cut to the edge, it’s okay to place it on the edge. Know that at least ¼ of an inch may be cut off. • Keep text to a minimum and emphasize the main ideas that you want to convey. The reader can ask you questions if more details are needed. • Use photographs, figures and graphs to make your poster visually pleasing. Make effective use of color and contrast. • Avoid photos as a background. They are too busy and will become grainy when enlarged to this size. • To ensure that poster colors are printed correctly, design in CMYK and save the file as a PDF.
