COACHING STAFF

Brian Aguailar Assistant Coach - Third Season -Oral Roberts, 2006 Former Golden Eagle catcher Brian Aguailar is in his third season as an assistant coach on the ORU baseball staff. At ORU, Aguailar coaches first base while assisting with various other coaching and administrative duties.

In 109 career games at ORU, Aguailar batted .291 with four home runs and 63 RBI. As a senior he was named 2nd-team All-Mid-Continent Conference. Following his ORU playing career, Aguailar signed as a free agent with Colorado, spending parts of three seasons in the Rockies organization.

Aguailar lettered for two seasons at ORU (2005-06), helping the Golden Eagles to a pair of Mid-Continent Conference Championships and NCAA Regional appearances. Aguailar was also a key contributor on ORU’s 2006 Fayetteville Regional Championship team, helping the Godlen Eagles to their first-ever Super Regional.

Aguailar orginally came to ORU after spending two seasons playing at Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo, Calif.

Joe Spring Student Assistant Coach - First Season - Oral Roberts, 2013 Former Oral Roberts standout pitcher Joe Spring is set to begin his coaching career with the Golden Eagles in 2013, joining the coaching ranks after two successful season on the mound at J.L. Johnson Stadium. Spring was a two time all-conference performer for the Golden Eagles, earning first team honors in 2012 as well as a second team mention in 2011. Following a solid performance in 2012 Summit League tournament, Spring was named to the alltournament team.

Prior to starting his career for the Golden Eagles, Spring played two seasons at Eastern State College in Wilberton, Okla. He helped the Mountaineers to a No. 9 national ranking and a regional championship in 2010, picking up four wins and four saves. He also got the job done behind the plate, starting 33 games in that season, receiving the Rawlings Region II Defensive Player of the Year and the Rawlings Gold Glove team as the region’s top defensive catcher.

Completing his ORU career in 2012, Spring was the Golden Eagle anchor out of the pen with a 1.78 earned run overage in 28 appearences. In 75.2 innings pitched, he struck out 55 batters, allowed just 17 walks and held opposing batters to an average of .247. In his first season in Tulsa, Spring went 5-1 in 21 appearences, recording 40 strikeouts. He ended the 2011 season with a 2.81 ERA.

A native of Owasso, Spring won back-to-back state championships with the Rams in 2007-08, while being named to the 2008 Oklahoma Coaches Association All-Star team.
