In this group project we re-defined the meaning of drinking beer. Due to the fact that the world first experimental beer garden would be designed in a Villa’s garden in a small city close to Bologna. There was also an old building, which should be redefined as a beer factory at the specified location, but our group didn’t focus on the manufacturing process, just the experience of drinking beer. Therefore, we designed a special place for beer tasting and relaxing, what we expressed with contrasts. We designed a light, flying white cube, for tasting the golden drink. On the other hand, the whole construction is maden by steel tuss in the hexahedron, which reflects on the character of beer.

E E L R

The cube is visible from long distance, but entering the garden you have to find the right way to the tasting area. There is an emphatic path in the park from where we are able to approach the flying cube. On the end of that path there are stairs through which the cube and the toilets are available. In this triple inner height area, you find a pleasant place for drinking beer and there are some openings on the ground from where you are able to watch the waves under the construction. Furthermore, from this level you can go ahead to a viewpoint tower, from where you can see the whole Villa’s garden. There are other slits on the wall, where the routes cross each other.

A tooth brace installation is always an interesting challenge. Moreover, if there are two abandoned, free plots in the traditional urban fabric. In the border of the ancient centre of Sopron a long but narrow path cuts through the city. The block is sparsely populated and disorganized. There are ancient shanties where some elderly people live, there is a big block of flats for young families and also some places for the people who just live in Hungary but work in Austria. In my opinion, this thiny parcel has a perfect possibility to organize the whole block and to add some more functions with which I can turn this part of the city into the urban cycle. Sopron is called as the city of sleeping, due to the fact that the Australian salary is much higher, than the Hungarian, but here the housing is cheap. Therefore, a lot of people from all over the country migrate here to get a flat and a lucrative job in abroad. I created a co-housing for these people and also for the townspeople. Here they can get a possibility not just to get a cheap home,

O R I A

but also, to get an opportunity to become a part of a community. In the right side of the two plots there are three flats, all of them for four people (for families or for friends) and the other part of the tooth brace install contains eight double room with own bathroom for couples or individuals. On the ground floor there are spaces for community activates such as a gym, coffee, shops, storages, laundry and a grand common living room. There is a „cleat between the two blocks, which makes new outdoor places for a better living, this is actually an accessible coffee. This building is the flattest and it is placed in the centre, from this main area the other two buildings are growing both in vertical and horizontal direction. In one direction (which is faced with the main street of the city) there are two floors, but in the other side -where there are mostly old, ruined homes- the building has just one more simple floor. From the two streets the complex is reachable and freely permeable, but just the inhabitants can enjoy all of the benefits of the tooth brace installation.

Given an old ruined sport area in the neighbourhood of Sopron, where the local children usually play football or other games, or just hang around the area, due to the fact that, there is no other sport facilities nearby. In this area, unlike all other schools, pupils don’t have the possibilities to learn swim, due to the fact that the closest swimming pool is reserved for the other educational institutions. I decided to create a training pool for these children and for all the local or other people, meanwhile leaving the well-established sports grounds free. There is a little basin close to the lakelet, where there is a big‚ football pitch. I decided, I don’t want to use this part of the basin, to give the free possibilities for free time activities to everybody, but I insert a distinct line generously into the basin. That way I can create a minimal inside place for all of the necessary equipments, a half opened swimming pool and also outside pools,

which are naturally bounded by the basin. The inserted cube has two exits into the wild in two floors thanks to the before mentioned basin. In this way, the main entrance is on the first floor, where there are also conference-, meeting rooms and places for indoor sport activities, and on the ground floor there are the locker rooms and the pools. All of these places are placed into a solid, massive, cube and the pools have an absolutely different appearance with a graceful peristyle and a softly situated cover. This contrast gives the people while entering the pool area, the feeling of freedom and the joy of swimming. For the bigger solid, I put some small openings on cube, those also meet the needs of the necessary places like bath -rooms, locker rooms or toilets. Instead of this the other part is maden by glass and steel, to be simply transparent. From this zone direct access is provided to the outside swimming and training pools.

What could be a good function for an abandoned, unused synagogue in a city where the Jew community almost disappeared? Moreover the location is not too popular area of the city, where there are a lot of public institution such as kindergartens, primary schools, or gym and even the oldest vintage cinema in the city. I didn’t want to give this synagogue back to the religions, because there is no denomination. Otherwise this are having everything to be a good and important meeting point in the city mainly for the young generations. This ruined building is placed in front of a park which is connected with the local stream and in the one side has a kindergarten, in the front there is a gym. Therefore, for the first action I arranged the outside area for the synagogue to get a better connection with the surroundings. The traffic must be dumped and the parking area should change a little for the best usage of the park. A path should be created to visit the stream, which is also directly connected with my site. The fence of the synagogue also must be demolished for the free use. Inside the ancient building I just cleaned all the areas and create a huge, transparent space for different way of uses,

such as a minitheater, or miniconcert hall, the multifunctional area is also suitable for exhibitions, or conferences, co-working space or what else the future owners want to use. I wanted to include the garden also into the cycle, so I made a ‚ribbon’ around the old building, which creates several areas in the garden. With this new attachment I can control the usage between the public, the semi- public and the ‚private’ areas which are opens only for the guests or users of the new establishments. Inside the ribbon, there are closed and covered, only covered, and absolutely opened areas which gives possibilities for a wide range of outdoor activities. Inside the old building I didn’t feel right to place a bathroom, because of its sacrament, so I have to create a place for these in the new building. There is also a coffee with a storage and another place which can be used as a locker room for the performers and a closed resting area with other toilets. Due to the fact that the synagogue is higher than the current soil level, I raised all of the building and paths a little to be in the same level. Of course, all of the buildings are accessible for everybody and the ground level differences create an interesting and enjoyable game.

There is a visible mark inside the old building, the place where the ancient Torah- cabinet used to be. In honour of the old function, I didn’t make anything on that wall (instead of the necessary conservation, which is important in the whole building), I didn’t cover it with a new material, this is can be a silent memory for every Jewish people. This is almost in the centre of the building, so the newly created ribbon is able to interpreted as an arm which cuddles the reminiscence.

In my imagination a theatre is a place where everything can happen, where you couldn’t guess what is the next step, due to the great works of talented editors, scene- and costume designers and actress. The contemporary set design is giving you the possibilities to be a part of the show with several methods, even with the non-usual system of the chairs or with the scenery in the auditorium. How should a cafe of a small, underground theatre looks like? In my visualization the place of acts doesn’t end in the underground, but the whole ground level can turn into it. There is no average separation between the reception area, the cafe and the stage. Everything can be the stage and everybody can be a player. Maybe the connection between the theatre and the street change rolls.

E R E R

Who is inside the building, not is in the reality and the people of the street are the audience of the whole happening. Therefore, the theatre already starts at the street and there is no border between the average life and the magical, special experience. The exist building is a classical domed structure, so I interpreted the domes into installation walls, which can be used as a normal wall for separate the different functions, but also can be used as a set for plays. The huge linear area is divided into 3 parts by opened, pierced and translucent walls, where you can find a cafe, an intermediate space with bathroom, bar and service area; and finally, a theatre area. On the other hand, all areas can be used as a bar, or even as a theatre. If you would like to go down to the real theatre, you have to find your way in this labyrinth.

Between the polycarbonate partition walls there are small boxes in the same material, where the bathroom and service area are included. There are no lamps in these boxes, because invisible LED ribbons are installed into the construction, which gives a special experience, as the boxes are floating. This method is used even in the wall openings. If you would like to reach the underground theatre first you must walk across the labyrinth and find the stairs.

The mentally disabled people used to threat in horrible ways among the whole word, but finally the UN had made a decision for a healthier, respectful treatment method for these people. People who has really serious mentally injury, have to get a special whole- day treatment in well-equipped shared rooms. For people with semi-serious problems the best solution is to create more personal homes with the necessary treatments equipment for maximum 50 people, but less is better. The original recommendation mentions 20-30 people. States should make homes for (max.) 12 people with mild mentally disability. Hungary accepted this resolution and until 2036 the state has to change all of the exist places. Due to the fact that most of these kind of treatment centres were built at Prussian regime, most of the hospitals and treatment places are in miserable condition. Until now there are no examples that fully meet expectations. In my project I tried to find a solution for this serious situation, where I placed the new rehabilitation centre in context with the exist city. In my opinion, centres for mentally disabled people should be placed in vivid area, where the normal life appears and where they are able to make connections with other people, on the other hand the society can face them to realize how valuable people they are.

T O A D

I chose a small, but dynamically evolving city close to the capital. It is located by the river Danube, and has some small forests, where locals usually go to spend their free times. The chosen area is located in the river bank where there are two abandoned plots in front of each other. I planned a three- part building complex which includes a private place for living for 24 semi- serious mentally disabled people, which is more or less similar to a modern co-housing. There is a training area with a common dining and also a workshop place where the people who live here, are able to enjoy the benefits of occupational therapy and also a public shop, where they can sell the goods, what they made by hand. The environment also gets an important part in this conception, on one hand because of the slope terrain. This attribution transformed into a great ramp, which connects the three parts and gives liberty for the free moving for everybody (some people with mental disabilities have also physical problems). On the other hand, there is a fine passage between the public and the private areas. Where the roads cross each other, an opened, public park is created, from where the shop is directly approachable. Against the sun, wind and noises plants and trees are planted.

This first building is near to one of the busiest roads of the city, that’s’ why I decided to insert the most public functions into this edifice. Here two roads from different directions cross each other and the plot has a sharp angle. I give this triangular shaped area to the public and the two parts of the building are adjusted to the two edges of the different streets. The shop is in front of the junction and the workshop place follows the direction of the street which is closer to the river Danube.

Inside the building there is a service area both for the shop and the workshops. The whole building has a frame structured wood construction which gives a lot of possibilities for free handling windows and doors and also gives a lot of natural benefits for the users. Every parts of the buildings are accessible for disabled people. In front of the shop entrance there is an opened, but covered place, which helps the people to find easily the entrance and also give a shadow for the tired bikers.

This is the most complex building, due to the elevation of the terrain. The main entrance is reachable both from the workshop place and the co-housing by ramps and it also has a coved-opened foreground. In the ground floor there is the training area with locker rooms and bathrooms. Half a level up in the right there is the dining room, which is accessible for disabled people too, it has a small warming kitchen. But the normal kitchen is under this floor and the parts are connected by food elevator.

49

i g i g

The kitchen is reachable from the outside and also from inside the building only by stairs. The last level is above the dressing rooms, and half level above from the dining, where there are a meeting room and a resting area for supervisors. From these rooms the people are able to see and control the whole area in all of the three buildings. But of course, inside the buildings the habitants can control their life with only the necessary help to enjoy a full life.

As all of the buildings this is also made by wooden frame construction, but here there is a main wall, a main spine. Two different function are attached to this spine from both sides. The smaller, in minus half level contains the common function areas, and the longer in South- East contains the private rooms and bathrooms. The living room and the kitchen has one and a half floor inner height. In the second floor a mini library and a pray room are placed. Every room have terrace or balcony, also the living room has direct connection with nature.

s p e

The whole conception has the same structure to improve the inhabitant knowledge about their home. The materials are the same everywhere, in different colours and patterns. Only the pray room got another semi-translucent material, where you can’t find any disturbing thing, you have the possibility to be just with God. The way to this room from the average life is special: A transparent corridor with the best view to the river Danube! Because sometimes the way is more important than the target.

Architecture is an enormous team work with a lot of different disciplines. I really enjoy to take part of some team works, not just in competitions but for the joy of creating. For me the best and most interesting things are not the results of our projects, but the way, how we communicate with each other, how we decide and make a deal in these camps, or workshops. A lot of different people, sometimes from different cultures and educations, always with really different personality. And we have to work together for a period to make something, which born in our mind and we have to transform that into reality. In all of my experiences I met with wonderful people with great ideas, but always we had to make arguments for the best solutions. These conversations were really important in the process. I took part of in several national and international workshop: Take your time- in Lisbon (international), 3rd Workshop- Sopron (University projects 3 times), Építészmusta (National), Architecture days (between Hungarian Universities) HelloShopron (National designers forum), Solar Decathol - SOMEshine project Hungary and Albania, Mood for Wood- Poznan (European), MediaWave (international- media festival)

Fortunately, I had the possibility to transform some idea into material objects and to try some manual techniques. Creating something with hand is a unique experience, when I could enjoy the silent, the noises in my mind and the material what I use. It is a kind of meditation, where I always want to reach the perfection, however I know exactly it is impossible. In spite of that my mind and me, try to reach it again and again, and every time I am a little bit closer to the perfect version. Even if I believe that a human is not able to create a perfect thing, because there is always a better one. If you make a hundred sphere, you still can’t reach the final, perfect stadium... On the other hand, one of the most important things for me in art is the imperfection. Every little detail can say something about the artist’s world of thought and also the fortuity has an important role in the act of art. For me everybody who create something is an artist and I get the possibility to decide if I like that or not, if it is able to say something new, or interesting for me or not, if it is close to the imperfect perfection or not. My works are made for school studies, lessons or just for myself.

65

Itried a lot of materials as gypsum, different woods, metal, paper and also, I paint with watercolour, ink, acrylic, oil, and even sometimes I used mixed techniques. I had a great chance to study abroad, in Naples in the Academia di Belle Arti, where I studied painting and etching, wood cut for half- half years. The artworks shown beloved, are from the bigger scale to the smaller sculptures until the 2D techniques. I made a stool which is reflects the womanity, before that I studied a lot of balance with two logs and a steel rod and also made a miniature of a beautiful, exist stool. There are some torsos about hand, dancer and the sphere. I am enthusiasm for painting with any technique and also love to make woodcuts. Cutting the wood is a kind of relaxation for me. My favourite project was a napolitan series about the architectural details in the city. In all of my works I always looking for the balance, and the dynamics, therefore I am really interested in mess, chaos, calm and mobility. In a printed portfolio quite difficult to explain more about these works please if you have any questions about them ask me in person.
