Week Long Events

Celebrating Learning in Hospital Family Resource Centre

Introduction by the Chairperson of the City of Learning Steering Group It is with great pleasure that I write this forward for the 2012 Limerick Lifelong Learning Festival, which takes place this year from 26th March to 1st April inclusive. Following the successful inauguration of this festival last year, 2012 promises to be even more exciting with a wide range of events planned. Our vision for Limerick is that of a region where people of all ages are actively engaged in learning that enhances the quality of their lives and revitalises their communities. This festival promotes and celebrates learning in all its forms, showcasing learning that is happening everywhere – for everyone. As Chairman, I am particularly delighted that the Lifelong Learning Festival has extended beyond the City to incorporate a large range of events in Limerick County. This is particularly appropriate in the context of the imminent merger of Limerick City and County Councils to form a single Unitary Authority. The festival this year has again been organised by Limerick City of Learning Steering Group, (a sub-committee of Limerick City Development Board) who must be acknowledged and thanked for all their hard work. I would also like to thank Limerick Communications Office, Limerick County Council and Limerick County V.E.C. in assisting our efforts in coordinating the programme across the City and County for 2012. May I take this opportunity to wish participants and organisers of events well during Lifelong Learning Week. Given the commitment of all involved I am certain that this year will yet again exceed all our expectations. Pat Dowling, Chair of the Limerick City of Learning Steering Group
