A Phone Call Years Later Why bother a girl you broke up with years ago with a phone call in the middle of a train station in the middle of the night to tell her that the bluebells of Lake Windermere are less blue than her eyes? Why bother to say anything at all when you yourself no longer resemble the saints crowned in sacristy gold above such ancient altars, still thinking you should not have hung up? Edel Hanley
