To Spend Time with Love Driving to the airport on a long-ago spring day, I was leaving you unwillingly, it seemed the only way. You promised, made a vow, drew a future I could not see, and the car radio suddenly played the Louis Armstrong song: “We Have All The Time In The World” and I wept, because it was wrong. There is never enough time free in our world, for love, “only love”, yet, grief and loss and absence have no limits or boundary. Ultimate spendthrifts they, spinning their base coins of ruin, and lest our pain should pall, years later, an old poignant tune re-opens a grievous wound that has never quite healed at all.
